I guess it might have a use since the roots of many of our words come from Latin - but it’s a dead language...that’s one of the reasons I figure I never ‘got it” as a young Catholic and ended up wandering as an Agnostic for decades before finding Christ....Latin masses growing up and I knew the noises to make after hearing the priest make his noises but didn’t know what the heck it meant...and the “Bible” classes weren’t really about the Bible but about Church canons and the such...Christ rarely came up as a topic.

That's a common experience, not just with learning language. Some people don't seek after music or math. Others don't look into Plato. Meanwhile the Hound of Heaven is after us.
