A congressman born in Lima, Peru said President Trump's tweet suggesting a group of Congresswomen "go back" to the countries that they came from has "nothing to do with birthplace."
As a foreign-born representative, unlike many of the women Trump was likely targeting in his Sunday tweet, Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) said he hasn't been told to "go back" by Trump, calling himself a "white male."
"But Im a white male of European descent. Hes not going to tell me to go back to my county. His tantrum has nothing to do with birthplace." Himes said in a Monday Instagram post, sharing a photo of himself as a second grade student in Colombia. "This country is stronger because of our diversity."
Trump tweeted Sunday that "'progressive' Democrat Congresswomen who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe" should "go back."
The tweet appears to be aimed at a group of freshman House Democrats, including Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.).
Omar came to the U.S. as a child as a Somali refugee. The other congresswomen were born in the U.S.
Democrats have denounced the president's tweet as being a racist message designed to divide Americans.
He doubled down on his remarks late Sunday, despite the backlash.
Republicans have not come forward to denounce the president's tweet.
How is the US stronger because of our diversity when issues of diversity are tearing us apart?
He didn’t you Moron
Trump’s comment is just his way of saying, “if you are an elected representative, then, ‘America, love it or leave it.’”
Republicans have not come forward to denounce the president’s tweet.

A complete surprise to me, I was sure some of the Bush League Republicans would.
His “tantrum” has to do with representing America instead of foreigners. Go back to your country is you don’t like it.
“This country is stronger because of our diversity.”
That is simply not true. Diversity is the problem.
An unproven, yet very common, assertion that has a lot of opposing evidence.
If his political positions are anything to go by, Himes’ true country is East Germany.
Post 6- nailed it
spot on
The other congresswomen were born in the U.S.

Tlaib is representing Hamas of her parents homeland.
Cortez is representing the Spanish reconquistadors.
Pressley is representing communists.
Makes the founders look like geniuses that they excluded the children of foreign nationals from being President.
Too bad we did not have ONE elected or appointed who would stand for the Constitution before the Kenyanesian Usurpation.
ALL 4 of those witches are causing trouble.
NONE of them is NATURAL BORN AMERICAN.
THIS is exactly why the Constitution spelled out who is ELIGIBLE to be President & to not have divided loyalties.
“Im a white male of European descent.”
Should we clap now, or when Dems put a target on his back? LOL
That is simply not true. Diversity is the problem.
Diversity is not the problem per se, tribalism is. Some tribes come here that do not contribute to the pie. The democrat mindset is that the pie is of a set size and each tribe must sabotage other tribes to get the pie for themselves or even destroy the pie so the other tribes cant have pie. The real american attitude is to get a bigger slice of pie for themselves singularly by creating more new pie of even more flavors than they consume themselves
That white dude Himes is stealing the girls’ limelight. Shame on him.
America is stronger because of the increasing ‘diversity’ of Kanaduh and the Euroweenie nations.
In other words, letting in all sorts of muzzloids, like True-dope and his European socialist brothers and sisters have done, very much weakens these countries, therefore making America stronger. Yes diversity, or is it dilution, (in other allied countries) makes America stronger.
...”This country is stronger because of our diversity.”
Ask Europe how their new found diversity is strengthening them
Ask China how it feels about it’s diversity,
and it’s lovely education camps
Simple test to disprove your hypothesis:
1-Get a strong 20' rope
2-Gather 10 of your closest friends for your side of the rope
3-I will gather 10 of my closest friends for my side of the rope
4-My team will pull in ONE direction
5-Your team pulls in 11 different directions
Shall we bet on who wins the tug-of-war?
The other congresswomen were born in the U.S.
Do we know that to be factual?
