Mueller hearing might be delayed and lengthened so more members can question him

Republicans and junior Democrats on Judiciary panel had grumbled at original 2-hour format

Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s testimony before Congress might be delayed until July 24, a week later than originally scheduled, to accommodate questioning from more members, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

Mueller and House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler have been negotiating the framework of the hearing for weeks and announced yesterday that the special counsel’s testimony, initially scheduled for next Wednesday, July 17, would last no more than two hours.

The hearing set for July 24 has been lengthened to three hours.

Republicans and junior Democrats on the Judiciary panel grumbled at the original two-hour format, arguing that it would sideline many of them from one of the most momentous political events of the year.

I figure Trump has something important going on overseas, and original script wouldn’t preempt enough time that day.

The only thing about the Mueller investigation that must be hurled is explaining it to the American people.

On the one hand, stupid because he’s only going to say what was in his lengthy report.

On the other hand smart because no one read the lengthy report only Barr’s summary of it, so it gets them another news cycle on it.

I am absolutely certain that Mueller doesn't want anything to do with being put on a stand where both sides are trying to put a arrow through his heart. But he brought this on himself.

He alientated the Republicans by extending an investigation he knew had no underlying crime, persecuting people to try to implicate innocent people in that non-crime, and extending it through their election cycle to try to take some of them out. Democrats, of course, all applauded this but then he alienated them by not delivering the goods. Could he have just made something up? Just say "We beleive there was collusion based on a variety of facts which, by themselves do not indicate collusion but taken in aggregete demonstrate a pattern ... blah blah blah" That's all the needed, the rest of the report would have been tossed and that one sentence would have been the only one we ever heard. But he didn't do it!

So now both sides want to make him suffer. The right wants him to explain why he hired a partisan staff and abused power to persecute people who had committed no crimes all while he knew the thing he was investigating didn't happen. Democrats will demand to know why he covered up the obvious collusion that clearly happened because John Brennan and Hillary Clinton say so.

Fun times for Mueller, and he brought it on himself by not being the straight arrow everyone swore he was.

Again, the stupid dims are in a position where they worked so hard to get one thing done, and in the passage of time, when all the down sides surface, THEY ARE FACED WITH

STEPPING ON THAT DAMN RAKE, again.

They are now trying to recover...postponed? time lengthened?

I don’t think they wanted that.

That Nadler is a real clever guy./ NOT

Odd that Mueller is “negotiating” with Congress. Over what sticking points, precisely?

Guy seemed to have so much to say - mostly through illegal leaks of confidential information, but still - when being lionized by the media. What’s made him so shy?

I hope you’re correct. All these Mueller Mulligans do is keep the nation spinning it’s wheels in a mud puddle.
Exhausting and nonproductive.

>> so more members can question him

I call B.S. Dems don't want Mueller to be questioned about (among other things) his involvement with the Epstein sentencing from a decade ago.

Mueller hearing might be delayed and lengthened so more members can question him canceled when Nadler figures out that there is no scenario that the Democrats profit from having one.
If the Republicans aren’t allowed near-equal time, they’ll boycott, and be right to do so.

If the Republicans are allowed near-equal time, they’ll ask when Mueller knew that there was no collusion.

And the followup question will be why, considering that Rush Limbaugh (for example) knew that there was no collusion within a week of the nomination of a Special Counsel, the public interest was served by paying millions of dollars and listening to two years of noise and smoke, on a Special Counsel backed by a score of high-powered, expensive, partisan Democrat lawyers instead of just following common sense???

And, considering that, why the half of the Mueller Report dedicated to straining at gnats and swallowing camels to suggest that the “investigation” - an “investigation” which never should have started in the first place, and the conduct of which unnecessarily impinged on the civil liberties and reputations of a number of Americans, and cost them significant money in lawyers’ fees - might have been “obstructed” belonged in the report at all?

Things I'd like to see...Hey, Mueller why don't you bring all your financial records and see if they match up with our investigation of you....
