The threat to do away with Obamacare is once again on the rise nearly 10 years after it was passed, as a major challenge to the health care law got a sympathetic-sounding hearing in a federal appeals court this week.
If the case does ultimately reach the Supreme Court, and five justices agree to strike down the Affordable Care Act, experts say it would upend the U.S. health care system and strip health insurance from an estimated 20 million people. Many millions more would lose crucial protections they might need in case of catastrophic medical issues ― including coverage for those with preexisting conditions.
Republicans in the U.S. Senate dont appear to be sweating the likelihood of such a scenario, however. Some are pinning their hopes on the courts to reject the challenge, which is backed by the Trump administration, on the grounds that it isnt serious and is legally moot.

Phew! What an attack on the American people when you’re really talking about the usual miscreants who want everything free - not the majority of Americans who work hard and have employer-based health care. But you’re right about one thing: no one wants to pay for their Obamacare because no one in their right mind wants to pay $2000-4000 dollars a month with huge deductibles. Americans are funny that way.
Only morally and intellectually.
I’m waiting to get rid of Motor Voter.
I think it was salon that went under.
Yeah, 26-year-old “children” and coverage after the fact.
Whatever this is, it ain’t insurance.
Bingo! Thank you!!
Here’s a comparison of the U.S., Canada and Germany healthcare systems.

The tactic of the LeftoDemocrat Party is to convince everyone that systems are ALWAYS static, that a change in one area won’t affect every component of the system. Either they believe this themselves, or are being deceitful.
The truth for every thinking person is that whole systems ADJUST with a change, and, if free economic systems are allowed to work on their own, relatively quickly.
If ALL of Obamacare were to come crashing down, there would be some negative consequences, but also many positive ones.
You are correct. This dogma has pervaded this site for nearly 7 years. We need to be capable of more sophisticated analysis of this situation, but, alas, we seem more eager to embrace a simpleton's explanation of Roberts' action.

So how many have moved so far?
*In the wealthiest country on the planet I've come to believe a workable plan must offer some assistance to those in real need, and to aid pre-existing conditions. This medical welfare must be limited. It would still be less expensive than the massive fraud and waste which is currently sucking our resources. Let the free market work again in health care and the govt. can help in some cases. Charities woud continue to play a large roll, probably larger. Add Health Savings Accounts.
The limited "medical welfare" I propose keeps the liberals off our back and away from power which would spell the end of our American experiment.
Since the mandate was removed, how can it be called either a ‘tax’ or a ‘fine’ if you are not ‘required’ to pay it?................
Too many of the public is conditioned to something for nothing and picking their fellow American's pockets via the ballot box is the easiest way to get it.
We will be fortunate if we can save some element of competition by preserving private insurance in some form, allow health care sharing through faith based plans, expand medical savings account options and/or adopt a less expensive model of socialized medicine such as the Japanese have.
1. coverage for pre-existing conditions
2. unlimited annual and lifetime coverage
3. few limits on medical treatments covered
Requiring insurers to carry those three things are the biggest factors that drive up the cost of health insurance in this country. Mandating companies to operate this way is also one of the most idiotic things you can possibly have in any sector of the economy.
So if you even have strong support for them among some of the most conservative people you'll meet anywhere, you can be damn sure there is a consensus among Americans to maintain a dysfunctional health insurance system that will eventually collapse under its own weight.
So, yeah ... Jim Noble is right on this one.
The mandate was not removed. The penalty was simply reduced to $0.
This was done to increase the number of younger people in medical insurance pools who have almost no health care costs to deal with ... so they could effectively reduce the premiums charged for their aging parents.
+1
If there is no penalty, then there is no mandate...............
