Looks like I will be going to Home Depot this weekend. Lowes is right across the street but I will go to HD.
I pull up to HD and see a parking space that says Veterans Only. I never park in that spot but appreciate the thoughtfulness and thank you.
A handful of twitter tards post they will “boycott,” so the MSM makes a fake story about it.
There is no “boycott.”
Dad just ran up a five hundred dollar bill there for house stuff; will be going back for more stuff for projects he’s put off. He parks in the Vets Only parking space HD provides for vets.
Those sissies need to see who else HD gives money to. There are a LOT of left wing organizations on the list. Bunch of whiners.
Yeah like rats go to Home Depot - go away.
I am heading down to Home Depot later this morning. I guess it won’t be as crowded as usual.
Home Depot is my go-to, we have a Lowe’s in town but I don’t like the management or the workers at the Lowe’s.
In fact I even wrote Lowe’s corporate because the workers at the local Lowe’s were not allowed to drink bottled water while they were working. If you look at the demographic that works at Lowe’s you will find a lot of older women as cash registers, medical issues etc... the store is moderately temperate but the garden center is hot as blazes or cold as ice depending on the time of year. And these people were not allowed by management to drink bottled water.
I called Lowe’s corporate, I wrote letters, I make phone calls and threatened to get OSHA involved (corporate was aghast) and finally the local cost center rescinded their stupid (local) edict and the workers were allowed to drink water while they were working.
Sheeesh... and this would be the store that I would have to shop at IF I boycotted Home Depot.
I am not boycotting Home Depot not for political reasons, or for personal reasons... Home Depot is better organized, has less fluff, and seems to be doing a much better job even though it is smaller than the local Lowe’s is. I do just fine at my Home Depot, Lowe’s can KMA.
I guess I might drive an extra mile to go to Home Depot instead of Lowe’s. That’s the main reason I usually go to Lowe’s, it’s a mile or so closer and a u turn and red light at one of the busiest intersections on that side of town...versus a left turn and you’re there...
Other than that, the Home Depot check verification refused a check a few years ago for a job we were doing, I looked at the deposit slip myself, the money was there (not my account though)...went to Lowe’s, got $500 in supplies, headed for the jobsite.
The reason it pissed me/us off, the materials we tried to buy included 25 concrete blocks, the 16 inch tall jobs, to put under the deck we were supposed to build, and a bunch of 2x12x16 lumber, heavy stuff. Around 25 of those too. We had to go somewhere else and load 25 of the damn things again, plus all the lumber, because their stupid check verification outfit wasn’t worth a flip. We knew the money was there, we went by the bank on the way to get materials and got an account balance, to be sure the check had cleared. The check for the down payment on the job should have had time to clear, we got a balance to be sure and it showed well above the $500 for the materials. He even showed the balance slip to the guy at the Home Depot register...no go...he wouldn’t even pick up the phone and call a manager...
Then we had to go to the jobsite, and UNLOAD all that heavy material...by lunch we were ready to go home...we decided hell with it, we got materials here, got the twine laid out, 4 post holes dug, let’s start again tomorrow when we’re not already tired and pissed off...
We got all our materials at Lowe’s from then on, and we’re not talking 20 bucks here and 30 there...more like 500 here, 1200 there...Home Depot lost a lot of money by not bothering to do a thing to verify a check we could show was good. It’s not hard to pick up the phone, especially when the customer has written verification from the bank in his hand that the money is there. We didn’t bring cash...that would have been easy enough, no reason to, they usually took his checks. Never did one bounce. Anywhere. He wrote $1000 checks for materials all the time, and until that day, Home Depot was where we usually got supplies, prices were usually a little better. When we had to load 25 heavy concrete blocks again and all the heavy lumber...we were not happy campers. Yes we did refuse to go put a thing back, they hire mexicans for that...we said OK you can keep stuff and walked out.
Between Lowes and HD for the military discount of 10%, I rarely go to HD anymore. HD does not give the discount on limber, PVC or numerous products. Lowes gives military discount on everything except markdowns. This may simply be in Fayetteville NC a HD local policy given a quarter of the residents served at Ft Bragg. In Ohio the HD military discount was across the board.
After a little time at Lowe’s they’ll be back at HD.
Contractors, remodelers, do-it-yourself ers, farmers, ranchers, red necks: all love Home Depot.
Best advertising they could get from money of the left.
I already knew what the management of Home Depot supported. Am very comfortable with it.
Leftist? They can pound sand, and choke on the dust.
We live rural, and have a small independent family owned hardware/sporting goods place that beats the prices of Lowe’s or Home Depot. Have no use for the sporting, but the service at the hardware is great and they usually have the odds and ends needed for replacement.
Lowe’s made the Military submit DD214’s to get their 10% discount. Home Depot does not. Either place is a 30 min round trip, both have about the same stuff.
Hubby could care less about what razor he uses as long as it does the job. At 79 all he wants is a decent shaving razor and comfortable shoes. Which are Sketcher’s Comfort Wide shoes.
This actually increases my probability of shopping at Home Depot, and seeing how I flip houses, I am pretty sure I can make up for a lot of liberals. I used to shop Lowe’s over Home Depot because same selection, but Lowe’s was non-Union and Home Depot was union, which made Lowe’s slightly less expensive on most items. However, something happened and whatever price difference there was disappeared over the last few years. Pretty easy for me to switch.
When I comparison shop Home Depot rarely has the cheapest price for a product. I can see them having trouble in the future competing.
“...comfortable shoes. Which are Sketchers Comfort Wide shoes.”
Got my first pair of Skechers (sneakers) a few months ago. I really like them. I was a loyal Reeboks customer a long time, but the last pair I had were crap.
I believe that the North Carolina politicians wanted to fold over the bathrooms use. The people were who supported that. What husband wants his wife to walk in on a tranny putting his wanger away when she has to use the Ladies Room?
Hopefully these include the people who take their dogs to Home Depot. That place is one of the worst for the precious pet parade. It’s management’s fault, but still.
Win win.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
Ten people on Twitter threaten a boycott and it’s news.
