2020 Dems reverse course to oppose virtually all Trump judicial nominees

It may come as no shock that Democratic senators currently running for president have opposed nearly all of President Trump’s judicial nominees this year -- but newly reported voting data shows some of those same lawmakers backed a surprising number of the president's court picks before the election season began.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., for example, voted in favor of 46 percent of Trump’s nominees from 2017-2018, according to data compiled by Demand Justice. Yet the figures, obtained and reported by Politico, show that in 2019, that number shrank to zero.

Two other 2020 candidates, Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., also rejected every single one of Trump’s picks this year, when in previous years they each approved 47 percent.

"They’ve lost their minds," Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, told Politico. "It’s just reflexive so I don’t think it’s any reflection on the nominees in particular. They’re just opposed to anything and everything the president is for."

Even those who approved the majority of the president’s judicial nominees during the first two years of his term have reversed course. While Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., approved 64 percent of Trump’s picks in past years, this year saw just a 3 percent approval rate. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., went from 51 percent down to 6 percent. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., had approved almost half in the past, at 49 percent, and stands at 11 percent this year.

Gayle Trotter, spokesperson for the conservative Judicial Crisis Network, said this trend against approving Trump's nominees "isn't going to play well" for Democrats in 2020.

The RINO party should remember this and do the same when the shoe is on the other foot.

They and all other liberals are about lose everything. It won’t be safe for them to walk the streets much less get elected.

Gayle Trotter is full of nonsense. Not only will it play well, it is imperative that they oppose these nominees.

I agree...The influx of radicals and socialists into the liberal Dem party is about to set them back years if not totally destroy them.

And the associated criminal activity which is about to be confronted will finish the job. Keep your eye on Epstein and watch what happens.

The socialists do not want judges. Throughout history a main function of law has been to uphold and regulate property relationships. In socialism this historic function of law will end. In a society based on common ownership and voluntary cooperation the sole object of law would be to serve the needs of individuals and interests of the whole community. Meaning that all the property would have to be controlled by the government. Without ownership, that isn’t possible. So if a judge, even one who tries like crazy, to try to establish ownership of private controlled property, they will be in the way of the thieving from the government.

I think it is going to be laughable when the socialist run into state’s rights. And when they start to take away those rights from the people that approved them, it will look like 1775 again. Only this time, the evil government will be inside the country. You may say that they could do a better job at controlling the problem because they weren’t across an ocean. But they are also accessible.

2020 is not a given by any stretch. Even if Trump is re-elected but we lose the Senate (I don’t have the numbers but it is possible), that would be devastating.

If Trump wins we keep the Senate easily. Only if Trump loses is the Senate in peril.
