I recently watched a German-made political movie, The Lives of Others, which was released back in 2006. Every American should take the opportunity to watch this movie, for it portrayed the destructive consequences for the people and a society living under what was formally an all-powerful East German police state.
The East German state police agency, the Stasi, was granted virtually unlimited power to monitor and spy on the lives of their citizens with the objective of maintaining absolute control over all aspects of the personal and professional lives of its people. The Stasi was renowned for being highly proficient and effective in its ability to subjugate East Germany's citizens.
This movie is a warning to Americans about the dire consequences of increasing the powers of the state. Too many Americans take for granted the continued blessings of our great American system, instituted by the Founding Fathers, based on the premise that man can rule himself.

“The Lives of Others is on Netflix, so Ill definitely watch.”
Good luck. I just tried to watch this German-made movie.. The subtitles are ALL half sentences. Impossible to really get it unless you understand the German language.
Oh it’s bad. Imagine a law on hair...HAIR by Newsom.
Imagine forcing tax payers to pay for illegals everywhere.
In essence it’s a slave state and we’ve known at least since prop nine( homosexual marriage ) over turning voters by the courts to allow homosexual marriages.
It’s everywhere now. Don’t imagine. We’re here. Kavanaugh hearing was a freak show.
Trump election and the Russian BS is downright treasonous and that includes the spying which was exposed in the NY Times front page.
I do not believe there is a turning back. Get ready for the next step in a cash-less society getting chipped and having your social media credit score follow you as we follow China’s draconian spying.
Nope we don’t need imagination. It’s all right here, right now but it isn’t quite country wide yet.
Austin is Cartelfornia in Texas. It’s too bad. I live in a very small bubble in my state where kids can still play and walk around town without fears of being hurt. But the “police” state full of dumb draconian laws hits everyone.
I’ve no idea how to turn back the push to destroy the last semblance of a constitution in a republic...the last death rattling of a free society.
Nationwide? Never because there are way too many more of us than there are of them. 300 million guns would be their first logistical problem.
They should fear the knowledge in the noggins of those who’ve been around the block more than anything else. There are people in my rural neighborhood who could start with nothing but butter knives and control most of the State within a couple of months.
Don’t forget the JFK assignation, the Great Depression, World wars....
Bump
I am pessimistic about that. It would take mutiny and insurrection (not just turning their backs on DeBlasio or a city police force having Blue Flu). How many officers would do that? All turning Clint Eastwood the same day?
It may be hopeless. Get our t shirts on with "PC For Me","Love that AOC" and "Reparations Now"./s
Spent 2 years being tracked by the Stazi. I knew them well.
So, you know...
Sorry but tat just shows how unimportant you are. If what you did mattered, it would be a different story.
