Big one just hit.
I’m on an Ancient
Indian Burial Ground.
.
That’s just great.
But, but, will it affect all the monorails and streetcar plans?
It was felt 40 miles into Az also.
I wouldn’t have guessed a coastal town would be spared frequent quakes, but I suppose the ground below is gonna be different everywhere. Maybe the Long Beach to Newport Beach stretch I’ve lived in shakes a lot coincident with the fact that there’s oil pools below. Never saw any derricks in Oceanside! I’ll have to ask my sister south of there what she felt this time.
Theyre not trapped. They can go over the backside of the mountains out by Inyokern and then back through 58.
Is that an SNL skit? Looks just like Cecily Strong.
No one mentions that this is right next to the Coso volcanic field, which is just north of China Lake.
Are local EMS’s getting warnings?
Yea, I like dropping conspiracies once in a while. But actually, according to what I’ve read, nuke tests have a specific seismic signature, so other countries would be blaming us if they actually were tests. But if they were tests, they’d be in the megaton class, so it would be nice to know those museum pieces still worked!

Has anyone figured the depth to the nagma in that field?
Here's hoping Mama Nature will take some pity and leave off adjusting her girdle for a bit.
A second earthquake hit Southern California in as many days. It’s five times bigger than Thursday’s
https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/05/us/california-earthquake/index.html
“A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake swayed buildings and cracked foundations in Southern California on Friday night, sending terrified residents sleeping on the streets a day after another temblor hit.
The latest earthquake Friday struck 11 miles northeast of Ridgecrest, according to the US Geological Survey. It was five times bigger than Thursday’s 6.4 -magnitude earthquake, also centered near Ridgecrest, CNN Meteorologist Brandon Miller said.
Gas leaks caused structure fires throughout Ridgecrest, residents reported water main breaks, and the power and communications were out in some areas, Mark Ghilarducci, Director of California Governors’ Office of Emergency Management, said.”
I was watching that Dodgers game as well. Seen it as it happened!
5.1 aftershock a few minutes ago.
The 7.1 was a 1-in-20 chance of happening after the former 6.6. Now, some seismologists are saying there is a 1-in-20 chance of a bigger one hitting very soon. One predicts it will happen between now and Tuesday, July 9.

Beautifully expressed.
I have no doubt it is the Navy Base at China Lake.
Looks like we have pretty good weapon that should scare the $hit out of China if they want to f*ck with us.
