I think this means the Chief’s retirement is intact and they owe him his back pay. I hope so, it doesn’t make up for the crap but he deserves it.
Oh, I remember now. He wasn’t Court Martialed. He was awarded a Silver Star for shooting an unarmed, wounded, teenage insurgent. As I also recall, he received one of his three Purple Hearts during this engagement. That got him a free ticket home after a four month adventure in the combat zone. BTW, that policy was only true in the Navy. In the Army and in the Marine Corps, you got free ice cream while you were in the hospital and you were back to the bush. As a rifle company commander, I tried to get the line doggies that had multiple Purple Hearts a good gig as Security Guard at the China Beach Evac Hospital, but that was about all that I could do. It sucked to be an Infantryman, and John Kerry was never one of them.
Your pay does not stop while you are awaiting Court Martial. Presumed to be innocent. Forfeiture of pay can only occur upon conviction and only if ordered by the sentence.
I found this disturbing. Did he really commit the actions he was charged with or is he just an asshole the platoon would like to get rid of? It seems like a pretty extreme way of getting rid of an asshole.

I remember reading about the expansion of the Teams years ago. There’s only so many people who can really be elite.

Oh, aren’t we wonderful!! The Geneva Conventions don’t draw the line that way - a combatant is lawful, and after surrendering protected from reprisal, if wearing the uniform of an established national army. The rules of the Conventions are honored by ISIS in the breach - they take care not to abide by them. IOW, to use the civil population as human shields.BTW, if your army cedes territory to its enemy and you stay behind to pick off an enemy soldier or so, don’t plan on surrendering afterward. It might not work out they way you planned - whether or not the enemy is a signatory to the Geneva Conventions.

However it does appear that the Obama administration infected the entire military with its little Obama cancer cells. Time to remove the cancer.
