On Sunday, Kamala Harris expressed support for new, federally mandated busing policies. I support busing. Listen, the schools of America are as segregated, if not more segregated, today than when I was in elementary school, Harris said. Where states fail to do their duty to ensure equality of all people and in particular where states create or pass legislation that created inequality, theres no question that the federal government has a role and a responsibility to step up.

Part of me really feels for Biden.
He has to feel trapped in a party that has gone so far to the Left, but what can he do? Even if he is a relative Centrist, let’s assume he wins the election, his Administration is still going to be full of Moonbats. And while I still think he’s the Democrat with the best chance of beating Trump in the General, his biggest problem will be getting the Nomination in a Party that now has no place for Old, White Men.
Dana Perino was telling how, when they started busing in her area, it wasn’t blacks coming to her school. Instead of her going to the town school which was very close, she and others were bused to black schools an hour away. She said she was one of three white kids in her class, and they were horribly bullied. It only lasted for two years.
Harris is going to stir up a hornet’s nest if she tries to pull this off.
My sister lives in Weston. Talk about tony, like her son went on a field trip to Italy for Latin class.
I'll give you a hint...you'll find little black kids,Brattle Street and a petition signed by Laurence Tribe and Julia Child (among many others).
One of the biggest reasons people in my neck of the woods pay outrageous prices for homes are the schools in the neighborhood.
Threaten to turn those schools into a new social experiment while busing their kids off to inner city Boston? No way - NEVER going to happen. Most might talk a good game but the idea of having Junior getting a unless education from a fourth rate school - and getting beaten up and exposed to ‘ you know who ‘ every day ?
Never going to happen.
In one of the wealthiest suburban towns of Boston this is a huge problem.
A number of the inner city kids are bused over from Boston through the METCO system. The school administrators fall all over themselves for these kids. The problems they bring to the schools are many, any number of the suburban kids want to hang out with them and be ‘ cool ‘.
Which includes activities that are unacceptable and in some cases outright criminal.

Oh, OH, thats a gooden right there that is. I hadnt heard that one ! I think that might take the lead from Heels Up Harris ... because Im going to be posting it everywhere in the world.
About 15 years ago I ran into three brothers whom I knew from an old Boston neighborhood my family lived in.
They were one family that did not make it out when busing waas forced down on the school system. They described getting into fights every day of the week. The white kids were constantly ganged up on by the blacks.
I remember the oldest brother telling me the only thing he learned in high school was how to fight. Said he and his brothers received no education at all.
Yes wiggerdom is quite the bane
There are about 8 or 10 books on the 1968 election —I’ve read them and own them all. Still amazing that the Michigan primary was WON by George Wallace. His high popularity was largely due to hatred of busing. Ended up fading but had the largest Madison Square Garden audience since FDR and many similar huge crowds all over the north and south both.
Ask some of those Michigan “suburban women who vote against Trump because they dislike his personal style”-—about busing their children into the City of Detroit. The drinking fountains are shut off due to poisonous metals. Most schools have rats in the halls. No heat in bitterly cold winter shuts down half the schools often.Lowest math scores and reading scores. Reading level of 8th grade for high school graduates.
The school bus is here. Get on board. Only 49 minutes to school each way, past the nice one a block away.
No
WOW
She MUST backpedal if she does indeed win.
They ALL make me sick.
Who picks this as an issue in 2019??
Like Smamntha Bee. She had a sh*t fit over some kids from Harlem attending her precious daughter’s private school. She’s in the upper East Side where the recently completed 2nd Av. subway opened, after 80+ yrs of delays. There’s already plans in the works to expand this line into East Harlem and the South Bronx. Let’s see if this liberal hypocrite stays in the hood if that subway line is extened.
BINGO
This past legislative session in Connecticut, regionalization of many of the smaller school districts was attempted to be forced through, which would have forced a busing situation is in many of the smaller towns and cities in Connecticut. There was an Almost universal opposition To this plan everywhere outside the major cities like Hartford, Bridgeport, New Haven, etc. Thankfully it died.
Please let her be the Democrat nominee. She will get slaughtered in the swing states Trump won in 2016...Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania. She has no idea how forced busing tore apart the Detroit area in the early 1970s, where it was ground zero for this issue. I was just a kid, but remember how suburban parents were furious and ready to go to the mat to stop their kids being forced to bus into Detroit schools. The federal courts ultimately stopped busing based on the Michigan case. This is a non-starter, and hurts Democrats most in the Midwest states they need to win.
We are constantly told how horrible and racist whites are to minorities, but there seems to be an endless attempt to make sure the minorities are always in the company of them.
I agree with her. Let's put all the illegal aliens on buses and send them right back to Mexico. BTW, ultra-liberal Doonesbury agrees with you:

Note how the liberals thought things would work out back then:

Which attitude, having now expanded to the entire world, leads to this:
(The Darwinization of soi.)
I rode a bus to and from a school at least ten miles from my home for five years between 1957 and 1962. The buses were governed to a maximum speed of 35MPH so it was at LEAST a thirty minute ride morning and afternoon. This was not because of race, the schools were still segregated. It was because of school consolidation, the high school I had expected to attend was the same my mother went to but it was shut down and we were bused to the next town.
