GOP Rep. McClintock: What We Are Seeing in North Korea ‘Vintage Trumpian Negotiation’
Breitbart ^ | 7/1/2019 | Trent Baker

Posted on 07/01/2019 7:43:14 AM PDT by bitt

Sunday, Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) commented on President Donald Trump’s visit to North Korea, calling it “vintage” Trump.

McClintock said on Fox News Channel what Trump is doing with dictator Kim Jong-un is something seen from his book, “The Art of the Deal,” to obtain peace with North Korea and help the country have the chance to “enter the international community and open up [Kim Jong-un’s] country to enormous investment and prosperity.”

“If you want to understand Donald Trump, read ‘The Art of the Deal,'” McClintock stated. “What we’re seeing, I think, is vintage Trumpian negotiation. You take a very, very hard line at first, get into the other guy’s head, figure out what he needs and wants, and then offer an alternative that gives him that while getting what you want. And I think that’s what’s playing out right now.”

I was always taught when you negotiate you need at least 2 things on the table at the same time

Car buying example:
I want a red car but won’t pay more than $25,000 for it. (color vs price) and be ready to walk at least once

I think we will head into the 2020 election with this:

1) North Korea basically solved
2) Immigration crisis managed, solid way forward to cut this off.
3) Deep State indictments actually out in the open, with juicy tidbits from on-going trials available for public consumption.
4) Economy solid as China trade war is resolved.

This is why the entire DC Swamp hates the man. He’s proving how wasteful and worthless the federal bureaucracy truly is. One man alone is showing the thousands of leeches at the State Department and the rest of the International Relations gurus and “experts” how to conduct diplomacy the way it should be done. Let these idiots write their position papers and articles in Foreign Affairs and other globalist controlled publications. Let them blather and prognosticate their worn out theories on the cable shows. None of them can do what this president is doing, and it’s not going to cost us a nuclear reactor or a pallet of cash in return!

Post #4- Seems to be a good simple forecast. Hope it works that way.
Thanks

While not disagreeing with your positive points, I’m still extremely concerned that the president’s exemplary handling of the job won’t be enough to overcome the msm and voter fraud, including ballot harvesting and illegals casting votes in overwhelming numbers.

The GOP seems either unwilling or unable to do anything about it.

Great summary. Will expose the Dems as the party of “ join us and get freebies” at the expense of the rest of you who will pay for it....

Those issues affect everyone. Rich or poor. The dems only know identity politics and appeasements as it comes to enemies.

So true. Said the same thing to my wife this am when we were watching the news reports on the topics. Fox - Bill Hemmer - at least to us he’s not a bozo like some of the afternoon hosts who we refuse to watch.... She/Neil...

Obama Policy - give in - give cash

Trump - no money, but you can earn it through your own thriving economy if you give up your old ways of holding nukes or developing them in the name of power...

...including ballot harvesting...

I think everywhere that allows ballot harvesting is a lost cause anyway.

I have never read Trumps book, but if I could relate his strategies to earlier career training, I would say what he is best at is what is called “shaping the battlefield” in military planning. He has spent the last two years on multiple fronts (immigration, courts, foreign policy) not necessarily fighting battles directly, but shaping/creating/managing the environments and assets to make it clear to adversaries that they have the choice of cooperating to find mutually beneficial solutions, or going into a battle (literally or politically) they will clearly lose catastrophically.

I don’t think Korea will be solved by this election cycle, but the shaping of the battlefield is clear to see. I don’t think immigration will be solved until we get both houses of congress back, but that is what this election cycle need s the ‘shape’. The deep state indictments I think will come in their own time. The economy and China are part of the same shaping of the Korea issue. Likewise Iran.

I’m concerned about both parts of number 4. I don’t trust China and the 2nd quarter GDP estimate at the end of July may show the economy slowing down and Pres. Trump doesn’t have the Fed. Reserve’s support (imo) like Obie did. I almost think they will not lower the interest rates or do anything to help the economy because they hope to get a dem in the White House in the 2020 elections. It seems like it’s President Trump against the world.

Most of the time talkers are not doers. They confuse talk with action. Its also much easier to talk about things than it is to accomplish them.

Nearly all of our politicians are talkers. And liars.

The Nork dictator is a brutal communist thug. And a “peace offensive” followed by a hard-line stance is a common communist tactic when negotiating with the USA. I hope Trump is not getting played

Time will tell.

The bottom line for me about PDJT: Real, Effective, American Leadership.
