There is absolutely nothing just about forcing whites to pay reparations to blacks for slavery. No white man alive has ever owned slaves, and no black man alive has ever been one. It is impossible to ascertain with any degree of credibility how much -- or even whether -- white society benefited to any significant extent from human chattel slavery, especially if one takes into account the costs of that institution and not just its benefits.

Nor is it just -- in the legal or moral sense -- to penalize people who have never committed any wrong, in the name of redressing a grievance in which they never participated. And it is equally wrong to reward people who have never suffered from anything but their own shortcomings.

Reparations are nothing but short-sighted pandering to try to keep the "Gimmes" on the liberal plantation. But only at the cost of alienating every right-thinking white person and a whole host of others who have worked for a living their entire lives.
