Buddhists generally have a lot of intense, if politely covered up, dislike for muzzardry based on brutal treatment by muzzards in India and Central Asia.

There are Tibetan refugees in Europe, mainly in Switzerland, which looks a little like their homeland. The Dalai Lama is probably concerned for their safety.
