The service member's body was found 22 days after U.S. Army Pfc. Steven Hodges was found dead on federal land near Nogales, the Tucson Sentinel reported. Hodges was also assigned to the Southwest Border Support Mission.
Officials said foul play isnt suspected in Hodges' death either.
Hodges' battalion commander, Lt. Col. Sean Lyons, said "every soldier in the Tomahawk Battalion is an essential member of our team.

Uh, whats up with that?
100+ degrees. Not drinking enough water?
Are these suicides? Are they possibly being incited by Dems telling them they’re evil for enforcing existing laws?
Two guys....both were in deployment situation to support border operations. It doesn’t appear (at least right now) that they knew each other. Two separate locations (maybe 60 miles apart).
Was this soldier on duty? If he was why was he not accompanied by another soldier?
“Officials said foul play isnt suspected in Hodges’ death either.”
Rough terrain; heat.
OTOH, would they tell us if it was something cartel-related?
How horrible.
“no foul play suspected” bothers me. Did they really investigate?
Two healthy people in good shape die — they need to investigate and find the cause.
“OTOH, would they tell us if it was something cartel-related”?
Cartel snipers comes to mind.
I was stationed in Tucson (1989-1992)...it was my first time living in the desert environment. I will admit, the heat has an affect on you, and if you get dehydrated...you can do some stupid things to trigger your demise. A lot of people don’t carry water bottles in their car, and if you have a breakdown in the middle of nowhere....you can get into serious health issue quickly.
I assume that was a joke because it can’t be taken seriously.
We need to find out how they died though.
Dehydration. don’t they patrol at least in pairs?
I don’t think we would be told if they were killed.
Drug overdoses? Smack? Fentanyl?
I carry a cooler winter spring summer and fall if I go to the bank I have a cooler in the vehicle with me case something happens it’s called being prepared now we have soldiers who go out in the desert without water.
So glad we sent them targets, instead of securing the border. Wonder what the going rate is.
For the many who trust the government to rell us the circumstances were just coincidental deployment to the most dangerous parts of the county.
God bless these soldiers. As far as I’m concerned - they deserve a hero’s funeral as they died in war.
The ultimate price to pay for freedom.
For the last dozen or more years, the Army has used the “Battle Buddy” concept to help keep tabs, good order/discipline, and maintain solid support for each soldier in the field. If these two soldiers’ battle buddies don’t have the information on what happened, something is drastically wrong.
“Never ferget nothin”
KYPD
Dominican Republic say no foul play is suspected there, either.
I got real close to that after a couple of days in Death Valley. It can sneak up on you. And then you are laid out wondering what hit you,
Dehydration can happen before you know it.
