WASHINGTON — President Trump on Sunday shrugged off the brutal dismembering of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist, just days after a United Nations report described how a team of Saudi assassins called Mr. Khashoggi a “sacrificial animal” before his murder.
The U.N. report urged an F.B.I. investigation into the slaying. But in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Mr. Trump said the episode had already been thoroughly investigated. He said the Middle East is “a vicious, hostile place” and noted that Saudi Arabia is an important trading partner with the United States.
“I only say they spend $400 to $450 billion over a period of time, all money, all jobs, buying equipment,” the president told Chuck Todd, the show’s moderator. “I’m not like a fool that says, ‘We don’t want to do business with them.’ And by the way, if they don’t do business with us, you know what they do? They’ll do business with the Russians or with the Chinese.”
Just days after pulling back from striking Iran for its downing of an American surveillance drone, Mr. Trump also said he was “not looking for war,” but added that if the United States went to war with Iran, “it’ll be obliteration like you’ve never seen before.”

We don’t know who killed Khashoggi. Or why. It was done in such a way as to point a finger at the Saudi government; but there are ways of getting rid of someone that don’t point a finger back at yourself.
It’s byzantine in its complexity, and we shouldn’t base policy on a puzzle.
Why make the brutal Arab culture a Trump issue? When did Bush, Clinton, or Obama refuse to do business with any Arab state until they changed their ways? i.e. stoning woman and throwing gays off buildings. Jeez, give Trump some credit for being realistic.
If you enter a Saudi embassy you are on your own? Same as setting foot on their soil. They kill lots of people for minor infractions on a daily basis.
Thank God, President Trump is not an ideologue. Why do you care some terrorist and terrorist sympathizer is killed by their enemy?

Kashoggi was pretty much a Muslim Brotherhood mouthpiece. I am not sad he got whacked and it is none of our business. I couldn’t care less if the Saudis whacked every MB guy in their country.

What if this happened with Obama, the same guy that supposedly gave Murdering Terrorist Osama Bin Laden a respectable Muslim Funeral using our Naval Forces?

Because he was murdered after walking into the Saudi embassy in Istanbul.
Of course, if the F.B.I. did try to mount an investigation in Turkey, the U.N. would accuse Trump of not respecting the sovereignty of both Turkey and Saudi Arabia, of islamophobia, of perpetuating American hegemony, of state-sponsored terrorism, etc.
Khashoggi was a friend of Osama and a staunch supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood, had repeatedly urged the MBL to overthrow the Saudi Royals.
The Saudi Royals got tired of his stuff and did what people in that part of the world usually do ... they got rid of him at the first opportunity - it does not matter to them how, just that a thorn in their sides was removed. Better some bad publicity than an actualized movement to overthrow them.
It is not at all complex, but rather straight forward for what happens in parts of the world where human life has no value.
