New York Could Be the First State to Decriminalize Sex Work [Barf Alert]

New York is aiming to become the first state in America to fully decriminalize sex work via a new bill introduced this morning by legislators and activists from Decrim NY, a coalition of various organizations advocating for the rights of sex workers.

The bill, called Stop Violence in the Sex Trades Act, is sponsored by Democratic Senators Jessica Ramos and Julia Salazar as well as Assemblymembers Richard Gottfried and Yuh-Line Niou. It is the first statewide bill of its kind in the history of the United States and purposefully cites no reference to a specific gender in its language.

Currently, New York State law has over two dozen antiprostitution penal codes. About half of them pertain only to sex work between consenting adults, while the other statutes focus on trafficking, exploitation of minors, and coercion in the sex trades.

This bill upholds the felony antitrafficking statutes designed to punish traffickers as well as to protect minors, but it would repeal important sections in the penal code that prohibit prostitution and the criminalization of consenting adults.

Does that mean prostitution or just really tedious sex?

...Sounds like your shrink friend and pedophile Alfred Kinsey would get along splendidly.

Both powerfully demonstrate the consequences of
not submitting our corrupt natures to Christ

I am reminded of the first temptation that “John” faced, unsuccessfully
in CS Lewis’ Pilgrim’s Regress, with the “Brown Girls”

“Watch and see if I’m not right.”

Oh, I’m sure you are right.

Isn’t there precedent for this in the ‘marriage equality’ nonsense by the Supremes? If a homosexual marriage was legally conducted in one state, don’t the rest of the states have to honor it?

Seems the fundamental transformation of America is nearly complete.

Your post is correct, but probably because of space, lacks some of the kick with the areas that will be breached.

If prostitution is completely legalized, there are many problems associated with it.

Disease, violence, increase in related crime, sex trade possibilities by child abduction (kidnapping), an increase of illegals being bought and sent in to the US, a problem with paid off law enforcement (Capone owned every cop in Chicago), the interrelationship of gambling and alcohol/drugs, public acts that should never be seen especially by children...the list is endless.

And the one thing that is worse about it is that it won’t be stopped where it is, it will grow from support of a now almost unionized groups. Example already: “The group Sanctuary for Families, which advocates for survivors of sex trafficking and domestic violence, has said that decriminalization legislation doesn’t go far enough, and would only legalize a system that would turn mostly women and girls into “commodities to be bought and sold.” I hate to ask them what they think is happening now. Tack that on to the allowing of groups like the transexual community, which is what this is about, NAMBLA, paraphilias...all are waiting for this to be voted in so they can join in the fun. And I hate to bring this up, but what about beastiality? (Slipperey slope) I figured California would try this first. I underestimated New York. Either that or I overestimated them.

He said that you were repulsed by your friend’s vision. But you never stated whether you came around to his point of view. I think you did by implication.

Of course, that does not speak terribly well of the female gender, although when you think about how men act, that has a similar impact. The simple fact is that our species rose to become the apex predator on this planet because we were smarter and more opportunistic than any other species. Just because we haven’t had a serious challenger for domination of the planet in at least 50000 years, doesn’t mean that these characteristics have been bred out of us.

And all this time I thought we couldn’t tell a woman what she could do with her body.

Let the people who can't keep their pants zipped up pay their own medical bills.

You could take this line of thought to any activity that someone finds unhealthy. How about let the people who eat meat pay their own medical bills! Still think it’s a nifty idea?

I believe our base natures need completion in Christ

I am a thoroughly corrupt and fallen thing
Once I accepted that, then was easier to see
variants of this in others without judging,

that’s God’s job.

The Love of Money is the Root of all Evil

By extension, the Love of Power, in all its forms,
without Loving First the Source of all Power invariably causes corruption

Money, Beauty, Political Power, Raw Intellect, Persuasiveness
Without being submitted to Christ, leads to death.

Agree with your assessment in post #10. Once they push this envelope it’s a short hurdle to start legalizing a whitewashed version of pedophilia. These godless leftists won’t be satisfied until a rampant state of total immoral debauchery is achieved. Those who promote hell will inherit it.

It’s unlikely to increase the numbers of whores, but does reduce the numbers of pimps.

Most hookers make more money using pimps than they make without pimps, even after they give their pimp his customary 25% cut. The job of a pimp is to find customers with money who won't cause trouble, i.e. married white guys.

Most pimps are little more than managers who have day jobs. The caricature of Cadillac-driving, cape-wearing, royal pimp is a Hollywood creation.

What really harmed prostitutes was shutting down the websites where they used to advertise safely from motel rooms or their apartments. This drove them back out to the streets and the danger that streetwalking entails.

why barf? I certainly don’t care if a man or woman are prostitutes. That’s the customers problem, not mine.

That will be their next step: decriminalizing adolescent sex, because I bet too many would be against pedophilia.
