Expert: ‘Exodus’ from high-tax states like New York, California ‘just beginning’
The National Sentinel ^ | 6/21/19 | Jon Dougherty

Thanks in large part to the Trump-GOP tax reform law passed in December 2017, residents of high-tax states like New York, New Jersey, and California are leaving in high numbers — and the exodus is only just beginning, say experts.

“It took a few months for taxpayers to realize the dollar implications – until they actually filed their tax returns this year,” Alan Goldenberg, a principal at Friedman LLP, told Fox Business. “It quantified the impact of the loss of the SALT deduction when people saw it in front of their eyes on their tax return.”

The problem with liberal logic is liberals lie to themselves as readily as they lie to others. They tell themselves the policies they pursue have to work (because they are so smart) in spite of clear and available evidence that indicated otherwise. If they don’t work it is because the ideas or policies aren’t lefty enough and need more controlling lefty tweaking in order to make it work.
There are two types of liberals, evil ones and stupid ones. The evil ones want control at any cost. They lie, manipulate and deceive in order to further their agenda. The stupid ones buy into the deceit and lies. The really stupid ones are the highly vocal ones that will go to battle over their misguided causes.

I still think the SALT Deduction should have been at least $20,000, not the $10,000 that made it to the final Tax Bill.
************************************************
Since there are now fewer people itemizing deductions, it should be possible next time to reduce the SALT deduction ceiling to $5,000 or, better yet, eliminate it entirely.

I really like the idea of establishing some City-States.

New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, etc.

I’d support a Constitutional Amendment giving each City-State a single senator and some number of Reps. Allow the actual state to reclaim it’s Senatorial seats and House Reps.

States like Illinois seem to have no political representation. Only Chicago has representation. It’s not fair.

“That’s why we took our Yankee money and went south.”

We are about to do the same. We have friends who recently moved to Texas. They love it.

I currently live in NJ.

I’m due to close on a house in Florida in 10 days. I’m not moving yet but this is step 1. It means when I’m ready to get out of this tax and gun law hell hole, it’s just a hop and a skip.

It’ll be a rental and vacation home for a few years, then I’m out.

I can’t wait.

Disagree...

The limited SALT Deduction goes right to the heart of Middle Class Homeowners who are paying high Property Taxes and State Income Taxes.

CA - Prop 13 limits Property Taxes to 1% plus any Voter Approved Bonded Indebtedness. In our case the effective Rate was 1.25 of Appraised Value. (based on original purchase price with 2% allowable increases in Appraised Value)

The People who recently bought our Home are paying $10,000 a Year in Property Taxes where we were paying only $3,600 because we bought the House back in 1992. Same House, different owners and it eats up the entire SALT Deduction.

That cost us some House Seats IMHO. Two of my former Neighbors in Orange County CA Voted Rat just because of that and there was no way of talking them out of it.

In TX, there is no State Income Taxes but the Property Tax Rates in some areas are 4% with the Homes subject to yearly reappraisals from what I have been told.

All in all, it’s the Middle Class in both Blue and some Red States who are being pinched by the SALT deduction limits.

Everyone here looked at it like it was a great way to punish the Blue States, but it affects both Conservatives and Liberals in those same States. I think the GOP Congress goofed since it took the shine off the Tax Bill Apple.

We have been having in influx of Californicators here in Texas for a few years. They seem to be brining their liberal crackpot ideas with them choosing to blame President Trump for every “problem” they see on the national level and Governor Abbott for every “problem” they see on the state level. They are also involved in many more crackup on the roadways in and around places like Austin which is driving up the auto insurance rates.

I wish they would stay in California. They created the problem. They ought to stay and fix the problem. Unfortunately, they are a cancer that is metastasizing into other states.

To: Democrats hate too much

Why do you infer that it’s the liberal trash that’s electing to leave? We attended a Block Party in Gardnerville, NV last weekend where we’ve recently purchased a second home. We were quite surprised to learn that virtually everyone was from Southern California, and that they were ALL conservatives. And the talk amongst the men was about guns! The really funny thing was that my wife was the only one who was actually born in Nevada.

It started in NYS decades ago.

In 60 or so years, we’ve lost almost half our House seats.

Liberalism is like Cancer, it destroys healthy Tissue and moves somewhere else in the Body to do the same.

We left CA a couple of Months ago and are temporarily living in MS near Family. Not sure where we will make our final home, but it won’t be in a Blue State.

At least here my Vote will count.

I live in NYS. We own a home. It’s not fair for the rest of the nation’s taxpayers to subsidize our state’s lunacy.

Albany is the real enemy. Not a capped deduction

I have a 5.58 acre horse property in N Nevada-—NO STATE INCOME TAX-—for sale if anyone here is interested.

Current property taxes are UNDER $750 annually. House, garage, horse facilities.

PM me for more details.

“Illinois is losing the equivalent of a medium sized suburban town every year.”

My wife and I have retired and are looking to get the hell out. We’ll be taking our conservative values and a fair amount of capital with us.

Hopefully there will be enough Conservative people moving into NV to change it back to a Red State.

We were thinking about moving there, but leaving Blue CA for another Blue State (without the great Weather) makes no sense to us. AZ was on the list but it is trending Blue as well.

Very sad.

I understand. I’m originally from NY.

Unfortunately, making an unpopular Tax decision at the Federal Level impacts our retention of House Seats in Conservative areas within the Blue States.

I lived in supposedly Conservative Orange County CA and it went full Rat last year. Of course Ballot Harvesting and Illegal Invader Votes were part of it, but the limited SALT Deduction changed four of our Neighbors Votes from GOP to Rat. That is the reality I saw.

Talked to one of my old work buddies the other day and he and his wife are probably quitting FL after living there for nearly their entire lives. Too much influx of libs and the politics are shifting. Barely hanging on to conservative and going blue before too long.

We’re in TN, and have run in to many who are escaping from FL for the same reason. Too many libs moving in down there, so they’re coming to the Bible Belt.
