We Blamed George W. Bush

Given the volume of commentary describing Donald Trump as a uniquely polarizing figure—and the amount of time Democrats spend attempting to end his presidency—one might think he is among the most partisan Presidents in our history. But that’s not the message in the latest NBC/Wall Street Journal survey.

Not that voters don’t give Mr. Trump a large share of the blame when asked who is responsible for “the partisanship that goes on in Washington.” In the June NBC/WSJ poll, 43% of respondents give the Trump administration “almost all” or “a major part” of the blame. When you consider that another 23% give Team Trump “at least half” the blame, it doesn’t seem to leave all that much room for other politicians. (The polling team doesn’t appear to have asked voters whether they blame themselves.)

In any case, survey respondents seem to hold Mr. Trump responsible for much of Washington’s partisanship. But as with so many other issues related to Mr. Trump, it’s instructive to evaluate him in comparison to other Presidents.

Meh. It was a political appointment, nothing more.

There were large organized protests on his inauguration day, literally before he did anything as President. Tell me again how he caused partisanship.

Oh that's easy. "Partisanship" for liberals is defined as anything conservatives do. Whenever a liberal does something similar, that's defined as "Speaking truth to power".

In GHWB, isn’t the H silent?

Disagree too! However you are referring to the father he was appointed as a caretaker head of CIA. All that takes most of the time is to be a well-connected political bureaucrat! It was after the Church Hearings a harmless “do-nothing” was what that was required.

W did fly F106s yes it was for the National Guard but a still a dangerous plane to fly. It and its predecessor the F102 killed a lot of pilots.

W played rugby in college, he probably would have been duct taping you to the flag! He was no scholar that’s for sure!

The old man flew TBFs in WWII.

Not an admirer of the Bushs by any means but not mindlessly hostile. Remember the other choices were Dukakis, Gore, & Kerry. All three makes the vote self-explanatory!

I’m talking about the Republican Party platform WHEN TRUMP RAN FOR PRESIDENT ... not the party platform from a thousand years ago before indoor plumbing was invented.

Lighten up, dude.

That's ok. It's not like you forgot where you were on Nov. 22, 1963, like GHWB did.

Trump is returning the Republican Party to a pro labor protectionist party and you old globalist wind bags can’t stand it.

Decisive? Really?

I recently watched a documentary on Reagan. It’s been the same bs since before then. Democrats were opposed to him for no other reason than he was a Republican. It’s not really any different now. Democrats are still evil.

I don’t know why you insist on acting like such a stunted malcontent here on FR. If Trump was an open-borders globalist I NEVER WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR HIM.

Because the focal point of his campaign was booting/keeping out illegal immigrants and cutting taxes/regulations.... both staples of the leftists existence.
