There has been a lot of southern news about closing of rural hospitals. An unidentified personal source (I swear to God - you'll see) has told me that at his hospital facility, ABC News has sent the above referenced reporter out to do interviews, and that the report will air this Sunday on George Stephanopolous's show.
The interviews are not being conducted at only one hospital in one state. That's all I know. I don't have all the details, but I have seen several local news stories lately about the closure of rural hospitals over the past several years.
Watch for this story to be the next hot Democrat attack on heartless Republicans (and Trump, I'm sure), whom they will be accusing of wanting to destroy healthcare in rural areas by not expanding Medicare and Medicaid (and probably for being against Medicare for All).
It's coming. Hope Republicans will be prepared to respond.
Obamacare is destroying rural hospitals.
But since Republicans failed to repeal it when they had the chance I suppose they now own that.
Closure of Rural Hospitals has been an
ongoing process for many years,
well antedating Trump
Community Hospitals have been dying a long slow death for a long long time....
Trying to pin that on one the GOP is comical....
Been slowly dying for 20 years.
The filthy RATS are totally unhinged. Like a madman with a gun shooting at anything and everything.
It will cost them....
I hope they will quantify the number of rural hospitals closed and/or decared at risk since the dictate of Obamacare and expanded Medicare.
Just to be fair, of course.
It is so.
What this mega hospital does is tell the locals that oh, yes, you'll still have an emergency room, a delivery room, a fully staffed hospital. And then the local community-oriented hospital (most of these hospitals were started by the communities themselves, not being helped b the big hospitals and universities downstate) is sold, the mega hospital closes any available beds, makes the emergency room a basic first aid station, and closes the maternity wards.
Additionally, the mega hospital also buys up as many of the local physicians and urgent cares as it can. So, we have a health-care monopoly.
For about 200 square miles, I could go to any doctor, hospital or urgent care, and my chart would be there. While some may see this as an advantage, it's not.
When I go to the mega-hospital complaining of shortness of breath and get an x-ray, the urgent care diagnoses my lung as “completely filled” with cancer. And then that note is in my file....who knows, it may still be there! In fact, I had pneumonia....and a little cancer (I'm stage 4 met. breast cancer, so a “little bit” of cancer doesn't even phase me. Absolutely no biggie :) ) was in a few places.
If I really gave a damn about beating something that is not beatable (why waste the rest of my life fighting something that I can't win) i could have gone downstate to a major university to get what I would consider a first class diagnosis.
When others tell me of their diagnosis and tell me it seems a little hinky, a little off, or that their doctor doesn't seem to be listening, I tell them to go downstate.
Under the current mega hospital, one uncorrected mistake made anywhere along the line follows the patient everywhere. And all this is a result of a PROFIT seeking board which goes out of its way to portray itself as a non-profit... and acting in a very Democratic way. I know this "book" isn't entirely on point, but thought maybe a snapshot would help.
Rural hospitals are being destroyed by unreimbursed care for illegals. Refusal to address this in Texas is part of the reason (along with support for Sharia Law and his Texas Corridor debacle) that Rick Perry was run out of Texas Politics.
Rural hospitals in the SW anywhere near the border were destroyed years ago when the dims began to encourage illegal immigration. Women would illegally cross the border to have babies and no one would pay the bill. It still happens at the few hospitals that survived but now the taxpayers pay the bill. We really need to just keep them out.
The other thing that is killing rural hospitals is they can’t compete with the big city hospitals and now it is too easy to just go further for care. Getting decent medical professionals to live/work in rural communities is a real trick and rural hospitals have a hard time finding the money for the latest equipment.
Rural hospitals have many issues but I seriously doubt the dims will be honest about all the issues involved.

Illegal immigration is playing a big part too.
Required to give care. Can’t get paid.
The Dems want to target the Repubs home base: the heartland.
We have a winner! Give yourself a cookie!
Rural hospitals are going broke having to care for illegal aliens employed by farmers and light industries in rural counties. Most farmers travel to cities for their own care.
No, demonrats are destroying rural hospitals. The one in our hometown had to close down because it went broke catering to illegals. It was the only hospital in the whole county so now people have to travel an hour one direction or an hour and a half to get to the ER.
Plus the epidemics of heroin, meth, and whatever other drugs pour over the border and devour rural areas.
Well if it comes from Democraps, it’s got to be true! I mean with their record on healthcare and lowering premiums, I mean these guys will sell it.
