Unfortunately for the junior senator from New York, it takes more brains than she possesses to pull off unprincipled political pandering. Over the course of her political career, Kirsten Gillibrand has demonstrated a willingness to embrace any policy or group that she thinks will work to her advantage. When she represented a rural-ish upstate New York congressional district, she was all for the Second Amendment, but when elevated to the Senate (to replace Hillary Clinton), her principles reversed themselves.

My female wife and I (male), both of us heterosexuals, happen to live in a community of several of this counter culture. With it being such a small town we have learned that it’s an over and under thing. Over about age 40 tend to support republicans and under 40, the democrats.

How could such a mediocre, politically inept woman as Kirsten Gillibrand, who is barely attracting 1% support in the polls, have become a U.S. Senator?
She won her seat because she was strongly promoted by New York’s other Senator, Chuck Schumer, one of the Democrats’ chief fundraisers, who poured Wall Street money into her campaign coffers.
So here she is in Iowa where Chuck Schumer has no influence and where whatever Wall Street money she’s been receiving has had no effect, and what does this damsel in distress do but go campaigning in a gay bar?

Hmmm... what with the proliferation of new pronouns, maybe it’s time to abandon the old heteronormative nouns like “husband” and “wife,” except as they pertain to cis-gendered heterosexual couples. Maybe “hisband” for cis-gendered male couples...we’d need one for cis-gendered lesbians, too. Cis-//trans- couples could be something else. I think it would really help to clarify and streamline the language, to better reflect the inclusive times which we find ourselves living in
