Twelve people were gunned down in Virginia Beach on Friday by one of their colleagues who had resigned that morning. Police are still searching for a motive. As is unfortunately typical, Democrats soon began talking about gun control as a solution. Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker was no exception this weekend when he joined CNN host Jake Tapper on "State of the Union." He probably wasn't expecting Tapper's tough line of questioning.

"How would your plan have stopped this tragedy?," the host asked.

Finally Tapper gave up, observing that Booker would not talk about the specific massacre in Virginia Beach, but his gun violence policies in general. So the rest of their chat was a general one.

WTH?! And jake isn't bright enough to know what sort of lifeline to toss fartacus? I have heard that someone wants to tighten up the "silencer" restrictions. Yeah, that'll do it.

Without “sensible gun control” (disarming lawful americans) the scum democrats cannot complete their communist takeover of america and americans.

Oh...and this will leave gangs and criminals in power. I forget the stats. I think gangs these days have close to 1,000,000 members, added to criminals, is/are enough to intimidate all liberals into snowflakey submission.

I think the chance to take guns from southern and heartland folks left the station with the one billionth gun sale.

NJ has some of the toughest gun laws in the country. How is that working out Cory?

As for legal gun sales, Cory Booker's point fails either way:

(1)If the assailant acquired the gun lawfully, under the present "reasonable" restrictions passed by -- I think --- Democratic majorities, it shows that these restrictions do not stop gun crime.

(2) If the assailant purchased the guns unlawfully, then it shows again that these reasonable restrictions do not stop gun crime, since crazy, aggressive, and criminal people will still get guns. And

(3)If the only "solution" is universal gun confiscation, it's Civil War.

And I would guess the alert Tapper failed to note that this was yet another massacre in ---as usual ---a No Guns Zone.

Amirite?

It is nice to see CNN and others finally challenge some Dems, but they’re only doing it to help pare the field down from 23 to a reasonable number.

He also mentioned federal gun licenses such as the ones Connecticut adopted supposedly to great success.

I just moved back to CT after years of living free in NH. I went from living in a town where there were at least 3 stores where I could buy an AK47 to living in a state where I will have to pay big bucks and go through numerous bureaucratic hoops to be allowed my rights as an American citizen. Strangely, despite all these wonderful gun laws to keep us safe the local news is still filled with shootings and murders. It's like hassling the legal gun owners does nothing to stop the inner city gangsta's from shooting each other.

Yeah, what if Virginia had the same tuff gun laws as Jew Jerksy cory? (yes, I know there are conservatives in the populace of NJ.)

Much, much easier to control folks who actually obey the law. Making the bad guys obey is hard so it’s avoided.

All these shootings, and the frequency of killings with many victims IS increasing, is part of, a symptom of, societal breakdown which is probably something that is no longer preventable. I have a feeling that the beginnings of it go back to two developments, the legalization of contraception and the War on Poverty. The first separated the sex act from procreation and separated the people from any idea of sin. The second converted a population advancing into the mainstream of America economically into a population of thugs in reserve for chaos.

It’s mostly politicians saying, “Look at me, I’m fighting crime by scapegoating hardware rather than going after crooks!”. On a deeper level it is “Only the wealthy and the powerful should own guns, not those lowly peasants”.

New Hampshire is nice but all my family lives in CT, plus it’s just too darn cold. I hope to move further south someday.

The solution of total confiscation, of course, is not any solution to gun violence, either, because the authorities do not have and won't have a registry of the guns in the hands of criminals and revolutionaries and cannot control the sub rosa importation of guns from sources that desire the dollars from the trade and the continued destabilization of the US. We fixed the drug importation problem??

Confiscation will, of course save some lives. Some deer and some antelope will survive to play freely where the buffalo used to roam. There will be the added violence that accompanies the attempt to confiscate as the mass shootings by SWATs and the shootings of SWATs becomes the everyday norm.
