Gov. Phil Murphy all but said Thursday he won’t sign another state budget unless it includes a tax hike on those who earn more than $1 million a year in New Jersey.

Murphy declared he’s done “stumbling” from one budget agreement to another each year as he put his foot down for a tax increase on the state’s top earners to help pump more money into education, transportation public-worker pensions and property taxes.

Al Gore once said that if you earn $250,000 per year you ‘are’ a millionaire because after 4 years you’ve earned a million dollars.

What a tool.

Back in the sixties, ten thousand dollars a year was the benchmark for us working stiffs to ‘have it made.’

You could buy three new cars with that, and it would take ten times that to buy three new cars today. So ten thousand then would be a hundred thousand a year now ... and that feels like ‘have it made.’

Never. The answer is never. You never push all the millionaires out of your state. You just keep defining “millionaire” downward until anyone whomisnt on the government take is a millionaire.

The only problem with killing all the rich people for their stuff is you only get to do it once.

Then what?

That phrase was on a former co-irker’s wall.

It had been there for years. Apparently no one else had any idea what it meant.

Youth today think history began in 1980. An early contestant on this season’s American Idol heard an American bomber going overhead to its base nearby in Hawaii.

He said war planes scared him. When someone mentioned WWII, this twenty-something said he thought that was just a video game.

Older folks increasingly live in an entirely different world from youths. Maybe that’s always been the case.

I knew a fellow that is late 30s to early 40s that had never heard of the Korean War.

One time I quoted Bluto and the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor. He thought that happened.

The guy was really intelligent and sensible otherwise.

Brilliant idea - if you are trying to increase the tax revenue in other states.

A younger thirty-something co-worker of mine was puzzled why we didn’t just order Japan to do whatever we wanted because we were still in charge there.

I’m very sad to see the state in which I was raised turned into a Turd World shithole.

On the other hand, I’m very glad to no longer live there, and to instead live in Texas, free America
