Back in the sixties, ten thousand dollars a year was the benchmark for us working stiffs to ‘have it made.’
You could buy three new cars with that, and it would take ten times that to buy three new cars today. So ten thousand then would be a hundred thousand a year now ... and that feels like ‘have it made.’
