Steve King says assuming all cultures are equal is 'devaluing' the Founding Fathers
© Greg Nash
Rep. Steve King
(R-Iowa) said at a constituent town hall Tuesday night that treating all cultures as equal is devaluing the countrys Founding Fathers.
"If we presume that every culture is equal and has an equal amount to contribute to our civilization, then we're devaluing the contributions of the people that laid the foundation for America and that's our Founding Fathers," King said Tuesday, according to the Des Moines Register.
The controversial Republican lawmaker added that his remarks Tuesday were not about race, it's never been about race. It is about culture."

I can't wait to see the virtue-signaling among members of his own party lining up to curry favor with the PC Left by excoriating King for saying what's basically a fact. Legacy candidate Liz Cheney led the charge the last time King said something politically incorrect.
Exactly what I was taught as a child. Refreshing to read it.
We used to assimilate in this country. All summer long, I would assimilate at the Polish church festival, then go to the Italian church festival, then go to the Protestant church picnic, then Greek, and we would end the year at the Armenian church festival.
How else do you learn about other cultures food?
Good for Rep. King.
What I would have said, however, is that some cultures are nothing but the filth and scum of the Earth.
True dat.
I really hope that the GOP establishment will fail in its efforts to primary out Steve King (as they will no doubt attempt to do) in the 2020 election cycle. He’s one of the best people we have in Congress on immigration and cultural issues.
When I see a Muslim guy at Costco wearing his long nightshirt outfit and beard and whatever skullcap they wear, while his dutiful wife follows him in a burkha in mid 90’s heat, I wonder what they are bringing to America that we need. I’m thinking nada. A belief that women are chattel slaves ain’t cultural enrichment.
not about race, it's never been about race. It is about culture."
Culture and race are not mutually exclusive. Culture does not just pop up out of the ground. It may make people feel better to say that and in today's PC/political environment some people act as if that is the same as saying I want to kill you but I disagree that race has nothing whatsoever to do with culture.
Go into the comments section and read some real thoughtful gems such as these:
“King really admires the founding fathers...well, not everything about them, just the part where some of them owned slaves.”
“Western values? Like arresting journalists, bailing out bankers & starting wars based on lies? Those values?”
A reply to the above comment:”What? That’s absurd. Pretty sure he means slavery, school shootings, and celebrity fetishism.”
Right on!!
Stating the obvious
People want to come here because they know American culture is superior to all others.
And they want to live in Caucasian areas for the same reason
Steve King speaks the truth!
Those posters are welcome to relocate to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Honduras, or Yemen at any time if they find “Western values” so offensive.
I ask the same thing whenever I see packs of invaders from the barrios of Central America and Mexico leaving a trail of trash and graffiti behind them everywhere they go. Does anyone really believe that we don't have enough poverty, vandalism, petty crime, and debris in our streets and that we need to import more? Evidently plenty of people in positions of power think exactly that.
And we got enough minority communities that already treat their women like that.
Lack of education, lack of success, and insecurity drive quite a few in those communities to treat their women like dirt.
They dont matter.
They are typing in mom and dad’s basement.
We will win in 2020.
He’s a racist. /sarc
There's no doubt in my mind, for example, that Europeans became the world's empires largely for two simple reasons: Africa (just to cite one continent) is four times larger than Europe, but Europe's coastline is more than twice as long. It also has a much more temperate climate than Europe. European countries were dominant seafarers because of the preponderance of its natural harbors, and they were industrious people because they had to cope with harsh winters.
Anyone who denies that is either blind or stupid.
Some are blind and stupid. The rest just lie for the sake of their ideology.
