Inglewood spent millions of dollars in public funds to soundproof middle-class areas of the city while bypassing one of the poorest neighborhoods where the roar from the Los Angeles International Airport flight path is loudest, according to a Times data analysis.
Over the last several decades, the Federal Aviation Administration and Los Angeles World Airports have given the city nearly $400 million to purchase and demolish hundreds of homes around the flight path and soundproof thousands of others.
A Times review of local and federal records shows Inglewood spent the money for soundproofing disproportionately in middle-class and primarily single-family neighborhoods on the east side of the city, farthest from the airport. Most of the eligible homes there received soundproofing.
Meanwhile, the citys zoning rules prohibited improvements in a struggling neighborhood of about 1,200 homes and apartments along the Century Boulevard corridor.

Wealthier neighborhoods pay more in property tax.. so this should be a perk.
If the poor people don’t like it, either upgrade or move out.
I’m thinkin’ they need bulletproofing more than they need sound proofing.
I always tried to bypass Inglewood entirely when possible.
Probably because the “poor neighborhood” denizens would sell the brand new good windows for drug money and replace them with plywood or some cheaper windows.
Lol
Yeah I doubt that noise is their biggest problem:)
And this money she scammed was ripped off from taxpayers all across the USA.
no worries, they the poor will still vote for her.
That’s probably true.
Why put a pickle on top of a Crap Sandwich?
They did my sister and BIL’s home about 5 years ago. Windows, electrical panel, air conditioner, etc...
Maxine just gave everyone a credit card with $200 to buy a ghetto blaster.
“The lack of any noise mitigation in the neighborhood most affected by noise is partly a historical irony.
“Inglewood officials decided decades ago to eliminate homes on the citys western boundary where the noise exposure was greatest and blight was encroaching. They rezoned the area south of Century Boulevard to industrial.
“The change prohibited future improvements to the housing.

You mean they spent the money on people who actually work and pay taxes? The areas they “skipped over” were where the sound of bongo drums and loud trumpets, overshadowed the aircraft noise, would be my bet. Plus, when you are zonked out on drugs, what’a a little A/C noise, right?
Not enough flak vests and combat pay to get workers in to do the soundproofing.
They should sell this as taking a stand against gentrification.

Burbank airport has done a lot in the homes surrounding their facilities. All these people moved in knowing there was an airport there, but now the airports have to pay out.
Nonsense...
We have a whiny class in our society, and it’s mucking things up for everyone.
You can hardly do anything these days for one loud mouth selfish group or another.
