Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch has flatly accused former FBI Director James Comey of mischaracterizing her statements by repeatedly alleging, under oath, that Lynch privately instructed him to call the Hillary Clinton email probe a "matter" instead of an "investigation."

That was an unconscious clarification of what she meant to have it (the phrase) used for.
Had she not said that specific word, it is extremely likely she would have ended the conversation with the, “because that was not how it was conveyed to him.”
Like someone subconsciously adding something to a story to make it just a bit more believable.
I don’t think Comey thought far enough ahead....
Me, if I’m doing something evil and vile (thinking waaaayyy outside my comfort zone, here) and it involved another person or more than one person, I’d be keeping some sort of ‘insurance,’ myself.
Perhaps a recording of a discussion, or an e-mail or two that someone’s forgotten about...
His problem is he never thought he’d get caught.
I would wager he’s got evidence against all of the others in on the attempted coup; he just doesn’t know it...
Thank the Lord God that Comey appears to be an idiot.
