District Judge Amit Mehta on Monday ruled in favor of a subpoena issued by the House Oversight Committee for President Trump's financial records from the accounting firm Mazars.
In a 41-page-long opinion, Mehta found that "President Trump cannot block the subpoena to Mazars."
....Mehta also denied a request from Trump lawyer William Consovoy that he issue a stay on the ruling while they appeal the decision to a higher court, meaning that the House Democrats could quickly obtain the president's financial records if Mazars complies with the request before an appeals court potentially intervenes.

The subpoena goes to a private accounting firm. They won’t refuse to comply. They would be insane to. Trump needs to get an emergency stay like tonight from a higher court or by the time it makes it way up, the Dems will have the records.

He’s ordering Mazars to release the records. They’re going to be apt to follow a judges order. A REAL judge,from a higher court, needs to step up NOW, before the night is over, and stay or overturn this crooked judge.
Since the subpoena was being sent to a 3rd party, not the White House, the accounting company could turn over the documents and there is nothing the White House can do about it, unless they can get a stay in place quickly. But if they didn’t have someone standing by at the Circuit Court with an appeal ready to file as soon as the decision was released, that would be legal malpractice.
That is what I say. Tell him to GFY. If we were under the Constitution, it would be illegal. Since at this point in time, we are not being governed under the Constitution, it does not matter anyhow. Just tell the “judge” FU and soldier on. If they want to take it to the next level....... I hope that there are enough Patriots who wish to restore Constitutional Government to make it interesting.
CPA firms are often in a difficult position and their counsel would likely advise them to comply. But they can certainly buy enough time to let the President’s counsel request a stay and appeal. After all, Trump has financial interests in numerous entities, including LLCs and partnerships. He also has co-investors, members, and partners whose confidentiality would be compromised by compliance. They need to come to his assistance post haste for their own protection especially from Congressional staffers leaking their private business to the media.
Sorry for the stupid question but what was their reasoning for getting to Trumps tax returns again? Was it to attempt to find dirt?
As it happens, the Chief Judge of the DC Circuit Court of Appeals is none other than Merrick Garland.
At least James Buchanan was qualified to hold the Office.
