District Judge Amit Mehta on Monday ruled in favor of a subpoena issued by the House Oversight Committee for President Trump's financial records from the accounting firm Mazars.
In a 41-page-long opinion, Mehta found that "President Trump cannot block the subpoena to Mazars."
....Mehta also denied a request from Trump lawyer William Consovoy that he issue a stay on the ruling while they appeal the decision to a higher court, meaning that the House Democrats could quickly obtain the president's financial records if Mazars complies with the request before an appeals court potentially intervenes.

our Founders gave us a system of governance with separation of powers, not a parliamentary system where the executive/prime minister has to obey parliament/congress
(and a citizen’s tax records are confidential by law, passed by congress, anyway)
the D’s appear to be creating their much-threatened “constitutional crisis”....but it will avail them nothing on the law..............and I personally doubt it will avail them much POLITICALLY (their motive, of course) either...
because,
1. most Americans don’t want Congress pawing through their tax records (horrible precedent), and
2. most Americans don’t give a damn about Trump’s old tax records (which were prepared by expert CPAs and largely audited by IRS anyway) and
3. most Americans see through the obviously-improper motives of the Democrat politicians in this matter (harassment, slander, politicization of the treasury, etc.)
4. I dare say (this is only my opinion of course) that even most D voters are sick and tired of all this krap from the D Congresscritters... and would much prefer everyone in Congress to just sit down and do their damned jobs (which they are screwing up royally, obviously). This assessment is based on just chatting with lots of people, mostly democrats, and it is not a scientific poll.

All this lawless targeting of a president because they don’t like him is not going to end well. This is the sort of thing that Franklin said our country was a republic “if we can keep it”.
And the judge strikes a blow for the judicial resistance! This is really getting old.
