Republicans are moving fast to squelch Justin Amash's rebellion against Donald Trump before his conclusion that the President "engaged in impeachable conduct" -- the first by a GOP lawmaker -- can gather momentum.
But Democrats who want a more hardline strategy against the President are seizing on the Michigan congressman's sudden intervention to pile pressure on their own leaders for tougher action.
Amash's act of conscience on Saturday sparked immediate speculation over whether a tiny leak in the Republican dam could grow into a torrent of support running away from the President.

They "run away" from this President at their peril.
Last I looked the dems had the majority in the house. Bogus headline. If the dems vote to impeach, there is nothing the minority can do about it.
The Dems are in total disarray....and acting like cockroaches when the light goes on.
Nothing personal kid. Its just business. Family business.
“Amash’s act of conscience...”
That is a stunning lie.
Someone finally got the message.
“Support Trump or the Base will skin you alive”
Amash’s act of conscience
Riiiggghhht.

All of the establishment guys - i.e. most of them - absolutely want Trump gone and business back to usual with dems winning everything slowly and comfortably in the pre-arranged DC kabuki dance.
But they must know that if the GOP conspires with democrats to remove Trump that even if their coup II attempt fails, the GOP is dead, dead, dead as a viable political party as sure as if it were nuked from outer space. This realization is the only reason, the ONLY reason, that a guy like Mitt Romney says stuff like "Trump is despicable and skouldn't be in office but he shouldn't be impeached " but with an implied "...yet" at the end of it.
The question is if the dems and the media will be successful at getting them to knowingly commit political mass suicide.
How many CNN execs and talking heads you figure stand to hang for their roles in the coup? Ten? Fifteen? More?
“...a tiny leak in the Republican dam could grow into a torrent of support running away from the President.”
Dream on.
He needs to have his Chairmanship lifted from the House Liberty Caucus.
He needs to be kicked off the Committee on Oversight and Reform.
He needs to be kicked off of the COR Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.
He needs to be kicked off of the COR Subcommittee on National Security.
C'mon Republican Leadership - show us some gumption.
None, unless there’s a CW II. They have a constitutional right to talk out of their a$$. A CW II, however, means that the federal troops might not get there on time to save them.
“act of conscience” my Ass!
“GOP throws up impeachment shield around Trump”
Where in this article is a metaphorical impeachment shield discussed? I spoiled my morning by reading a CNN article, but couldn’t find support for the headlined claim. Serves me right.
Act of Conscience?
It was an Act of Finance, according to Sundance over at CTH.
Will Amash watch Trump’s rally tonight? Will CNN?
“Amash’s act of conscience ...”
Because, of course, any person with even a speck of morality KNOWS that orangemanbad - um, I mean Donald Trump - should be impeached immediately for obstructing the democrats’ quest to impeach him (or something).
> They have a constitutional right to talk out of their a$$.
They don’t have a constitutional right to steal classified information, or to conspire with a coup.
Propaganda efforts were every bit as part of this coup as the Steele document. The leaks were coordinated intimately with the coup plotters; thus, the media figures are also part of the coup and not acting in a journalistic/press capacity in these actions.
CNN traitors will hang too. Only question is how many and who.
