Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a close ally of President Trump who has supported the president’s desire to pull U.S. troops out of the Middle East, says national security adviser John Bolton is a “malign influence.”
Paul, who believes the U.S. should reduce its military presence in Syria and Afghanistan, says he is alarmed by the recent mobilization of U.S. combat troops to counter what some Trump officials see as a rising threat posed by Iran.
Asked about Bolton’s role in the recent deployment of an aircraft carrier strike group and an Air Force bomber task force, Paul said, “I fear that he’s a malignancy, a malignant influence on the administration."

Absolutely. T. Roosevelt “walk softly, and carry a big stick”. Exactly what Trump is promoting. He’s correct as well is John Bolton. The BIG STICK is a well constructed, and staffed military we hopefully never have to use.

This is my idea:
1. Estimate the costs of the war.
2. Find the number of Americans who want said war.
3. Divide #1 by #2.
4. Send quotient #3 as extra tax bill to those in #2.
5. Finally, progeny of #2 are drafted for front-line duty in said war.

Rand makes his political career from weird statements. Gets him tons of coverage. Attention. Occasionally he’s right. Not this time. So far - anyway- Bolton looks like he’s making lots of good sense Iran’s dictators need to be removed, that’s for sure they’re extremely dangerous

It seems we have UN learned what we knew to be true in WW2.
The way you win a war is to kill the enemy in huge numbers, annihilate their cities by bombing them to rubble and then bomb the rubble into dust. Break the enemy soldiers and the peoples will to fight by having no limits on who, what or where the bombs drop.
In other words use the military for the purpose for which it was intended and that is to kill people and break things.
We are by far the preeminent military power on the planet and there is no nation or combination of nation’s that would prevail in a conflict with us.
Our power is not just military either. The United States consumes about 33% of the output of all goods and service produced in the entire world.
We have it all and amazingly it appears we are on the road to losing it all.

I would argue something different. Rand Paul (like Bernie) seems to say what he believes, without first examining it to see if it will help him or not.
Trump pretty much does the same thing.
I’m not sure why DJT brought this psycho into his administration. He seems to be 100% opposed to his warmongering, so why tolerate this little goof walking around the WH?
