Trump Plan Mandates E-Verify, Protecting U.S. Jobs for Americans
Breitbard ^ | 17 May 2019 | JOHN BINDER

Posted on 05/18/2019 6:09:28 AM PDT by xzins

A White House plan to reform the country’s legal immigration system includes a provision that mandates the use of E-Verify to prevent employers from hiring illegal aliens over American citizens.

Mandatory E-Verify, pro-American immigration reformers previously said, was crucial to any immigration plan unveiled by the White House as, currently, American workers are forced to compete against illegal aliens for working class jobs in a majority of states that do not mandate the use of E-Verify.

“Even though the plan doesn’t reduce numbers overall, it contains no amnesty or guest worker increases, mandates E-Verify, and addresses the wholesale abuse of our asylum policies,” the Federation for American Immigration Reform’s (FAIR) RJ Hauman told Breitbart News.

In states that have implemented mandatory E-Verify, the program has resulted in fewer jobless Americans, the most recent study by FAIR has found.

Mandatory E-Verify continues to be one of the most popular national immigration policies across party lines and the American electorate. In November 2018 exit polling by Zogby Analytics for FAIR, a total of 75 percent of American voters said they support mandatory E-Verify to prevent businesses from hiring illegal aliens over U.S. workers.

This includes a majority of Democrats, nearly 55 percent; more than 90 percent of Republicans, and nearly 80 percent of swing voters who support mandatory E-Verify. Across all demographic groups, mandatory E-Verify enjoys majority support. More than 80 percent of white Americans, nearly 74 percent of Asian Americans, 58 percent of Hispanic Americans, and nearly 53 percent of black Americans support the implementation of mandatory E-Verify to shore up jobs for American citizens.

“What you are essentially saying is if the Federal Government doesn’t do the job 100% then the private sector is given a green light to break the law.”

No that’s NOT what I’m saying at all. You got it completely wrong.

“If a private sector company is hiring illegals, they ARE evil because they are breaking the law and they know it.”

And so deserve to go to jail, while the fedgov officials responsible for our borders are off to the Caribbean and the illegals go on welfare.

Great policy you got there./SARCASM

And enforcement does not require legislation.

Re: You don’t read the Constitution much, do you?

LOL!

E-Verify is in the Constitution? Who knew?

In the meantime, YOU need to read the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, also known as the “Reagan Amnesty.”

IRCA requires all USA employers to collect a signed work authorization Form I-9 from every potential employee.

The purpose of E-Verify is to validate information on I-9s - for federal employees AND every other employee in the USA.

George W. Bush - trying to appease opponents to his Amnesty in 2007 - ordered a Department of Homeland Security regulation that required E-Verify for SOME federal employees and contractors.

Bush - as well as Trump - could have extended E-Verify to ALL employees in the USA, any time they wanted to.

Of course, since and Bush and Trump do not want Universal E-Verify, they never even tried to enforce it.

“Bush - as well as Trump - could have extended E-Verify to ALL employees in the USA, any time they wanted to.”

No, that is impossible without a new law. They only have authority over federal employees.

You do not understand “law” and the powers of a president.

The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the Executive Branch of Government.

His job - and his sworn Constitutional duty - is to “execute” (or “enforce”) the laws passed by Congress.

Congress passed a law that requires ALL employees in the USA to fill out an I-9 Work Authorization Form.

Congress empowered the Department of Homeland Security to review and verify EVERY Form I-9 in the country.

If you don’t understand that, I have no idea what else to say to you.

“Congress empowered the Department of Homeland Security to review and verify EVERY Form I-9 in the country.”

Since DHS is not interviewing the prospective employee, it can’t know the person who is working is the person who DHS thinks it is because of what an employer provided.

E-Verify has to be done at the source, because it include state ID pictures with it. Congress made E-Verify optional for employers, which is where your proposed action breaks down.

No, I don’t and never have.

You love and worship and obey everything the fedgov tells you, don’t you.

You’re joking of course, but you actually had to be verified. Ridiculous.

This law, like the “Patriot Act” sounds wonderful but is meant, and will be used, not to route out illegals, but to punish American citizens.

Don’t be fooled AGAIN.

WAKE UP FOR CHRIST’S SAKE.

FINALLY! Dennis Michael Lynch, who has studied the border problem for years, has been preaching E-Verify for a very long time! Hold the employers accountable for a change!

Ah, yes, govt, yet again, passing the buck onto BIZ for a job THEY can’t/won’t/refuse to do

And, to those “conservatives” giving accolades: By what authority (don’t think I’ll hold my breath)??

You mean when I advocate for the prosecution of any employer that hires illegal aliens?

Or do you mean when you say employers shouldn’t be held accountable for illegally hiring illegal aliens?

The same authority as to collect social security and require social security numbers.

Also, the constitution gives congress the power to determine naturalization and all powers necessary to put that into effect. IOW, the constitution directly puts immigration in congress’ hands.

When you omit holding those responsible for breaking the law, the fedgov.

You jump right over all the laws they’ve broken, by default excusing them, and focus your prosecution ire on American business.

Why not have American businesses verify their employees gun ownership status...or their drivers license, their house insurance, or their passports?

Then prosecute those Businesses that don’t comply....!!!????

Being a ‘professional’ blue collar aerospace worker who lived in southern mexifornia for a regrettable period, I can tell all here that legal mexicans want illegal mexicans to be held accountable as much as non-mexicans. Employers are the main pushers of this low-cost employee ‘drug’ and their accountability is the first order.

I care less now than ever about what ‘take it to the bank’ pelosi says anymore. shes a dog with no teeth...almost literally. Every dem state represenative and senator has to be really worried as they see their public approval circling the drain. Even nancy is back paddling the impeachment talk and maxine waters is now afraid to open her fat mouth near as wide as pre-muller report.

the republicans in this country are winning. welcome to all converted democrats who got utterly sick of their idiotic party faces.
