Dallas police searched the headquarters of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas and other properties Wednesday as part of the church's widening sex abuse scandal, police and church officials said.
Maj. Max Geron of the special investigations division said the raids are related to five new allegations of sexual abuse that emerged after police issued an arrest warrant for a priest named Edmundo Paredes, who was previously assigned to St. Cecilia's Parish in Dallas.
Dallas authorities said they consider Paredes a fugitive.
The parish was one of the locations searched Wednesday, along with the diocese headquarters and a storage facility, Geron said.

The raids took the diocese by surprise since church officials have been cooperating with authorities for months, according to Catholic Diocese of Dallas spokeswoman Annette Gonzales Taylor.
"We feel like we were being transparent," Gonzales Taylor told CNN.
The diocese was not subpoenaed, she said.
The watchdog group Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests praised Wednesday's searches as a sign "police and prosecutors are taking the issue of clergy abuse in Texas seriously and are not just relying on the promises of church officials."

Evidently the police don’t believe the church doesn’t know more about Parades than they are telling.
And the cops are probably right.

This is why I would never step a foot in a Catholic Church.
As a Catholic, I would say they brought a lot of it upon themselves.

When examining the particulars of the RC cases, it is worthwhile to examine aggregate numbers of male priest actions against young:
a) females
b) males
If the population of children in an RC church is roughly 50/50 female-to-male, and they are more or less equally opportunity targets of the male priest (and not all alter boys, for example), then this will tell us something about the pederist’s preference for homosexual vs heterosexual targets.
The RC church cases provide, perhaps, a large enough sample size of data points, and m/f evidence, to draw some conclusions. And perhaps push back against the oft-heard claim that “pedophiles are not homosexuals” and “homosexuals are not pedophiles.”
And what makes you think this is such a thing?

Pedophilia needs to be searched out and destroyed where ever it exists.

What we need is for the church to clean up it’s act.It’s beyond my understanding why the church resists.

This has been studied. It’s about homosexual activity.
“pedophiles are not homosexuals” and “homosexuals are not pedophiles.”
There’s a slight of hand with this phrase. Technically a pedophile is someone who pursues pre-adolescents for sex. That’s not the common usage in news reports. The average user calls anyone a pedophile who pursues any minor for sex.
News reports play on this misunderstanding. It’s normal behavior for homosexuals to pursue teenagers for sex (almost all the Church scandal cases). That’s why the MSM will quote some academic who says “homosexuals aren’t pedophiles” knowing the public will misunderstand.
