Donald Trump is a business ‘killer’ who ‘never plays by the rules’, say Chinese exporters after tari

“Those manufacturers who mainly sell to Europe and the United States need to start taking pain killers again,” said exporter Liao Yu, who produces bags and suitcases in Dongguan.

“The cost of relocation is very high for small factories of our kind. But if you don’t move, how do you digest the tariffs? A 25 per cent [tariff] will kill everyone. Meanwhile, European and American customers are now using more suppliers in Southeast Asia to replace us. Trump is just a killer.”

“We thought our products would be safe and excluded from the list [subject to US tariffs]. But Trump never plays by the rules and it seems no one from China’s side is able to contend with him,” said Gloria Luo, who manages a Guangdong-based manufacturer of automotive parts and industrial moulds.

“My team and I have been busy studying whether our products would be included on the list of US$325 billion worth of goods and what we should do next. It’s really hard to absorb the news because the [Chinese] media is just reporting repeatedly that both sides had made positive progress in the latest talks and would reach a final deal soon.

“[Trump’s threat] means a fundamental change for those of us who used to fill American orders, either we must relocate to other countries or suffer great hardship,” said Jason Liang, a sales manager at a Guangzhou-based exporter of LED products.

“There’s a huge difference between [the effect of] a 10 per cent tariff and a 25 per cent tariff. No factory could absorb the tariff costs that are that high.

“[The rise] would only result in massive lay-offs at a large number of export-oriented companies, not to mention [the effect of the new] 25 per cent tariffs on an additional US$325 billion of Chinese goods.

The same with my brother. The A coil in his air conditioner lasted 3 years and the same for his water heater. He was told all this began the year the items began coming from China.

That chicom drywall made a lot of people sick too. They have no problem sending us poisonous stuff. Lead in the paint they use on children’s toys too.

And maybe thats why we elected him President Gloria, to break the unwritten rules, shake up the players and get the best deal for US for a change.

BTW, maybe he’ll take a look at doing away with your Most Favored Nation status while he’s at it.

know how is not the issue.

Selling the bags after they are made is the issue.

The sale can be made only if the bags are available at competitive price.

Bag production will shift to a location that can still produce untariffed bags cheaper than in America.

America is at or near full employment and does not need to produce bags to get jobs. America has better products to manufacture

Image result for crying boohoo girl

Men, all this stuff you hear about America not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of bullshit.

Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting and clash of battle.

When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, the big-league ball players and the toughest boxers.

Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time.

That's why Americans have never lost and will never lose a war. The very thought of losing is hateful to Americans.

Battle is the most significant competition in which a man can indulge. It brings out all that is best and it removes all that is base.

I don’t want a deal. The deal is 25% tariffs. That is fine for the next 30 years.

FU global butt boy. The butt hurt is strong in you.

My part of the trade policy coalition was composed of national security Republicans. They did not want to see the outsourcing of strategic supply chains overseas which would make our defense industrial base vulnerable to disruption while transferring technology to rivals like China. Our partners on the left were labor Democrats who did not want to see American workers lose their jobs as factories closed in the Heartland. Mounting trade deficits meant that American money was not only creating jobs overseas but also building and sustaining industrial capacity that empowered the ambitions of foreign adversaries. After fighting off Chinese-origin hacking from servers for the last 20 years I have zero sympathy.

China thinks it’s a bidder for global domination, but in truth it’s not even a first-world country. Only reason it has any modern anything is because these things were gifted to them by more advanced nations.

If China isn’t allowed to cheat, they’re not competitive.

... who ‘never plays by the rules’, say Chinese exporters...

The rules where they suck us dry, buy nothing from us while we by everything from them. Yes, Trump will never play by those rules. Those rules are over. The same can be said to Germany and France. IT’S OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So they move their manufacturing to Tennessee.

There is a lot of truth to this.

One of the facilities I run had a similar problem. Our “corporate” supply chain team wanted to shift one of our volume product to a Major supplier in Mexico they were looking to further develop.

The problem came when I pushed backed and wanted to see the total landed cost and the details of the costs in Mexico. While Mexico’s hourly labor rate was slightly below the TN facility, their overhead rate was actually higher. The net result was that TN was $0.19 cheaper per labor hour, and that didn’t include the shipping costs, or any potential risks.
