The Trump administration is hiking duties on $200 billion worth of Chinese products to 25% from 10%... Industries and businesses affected by the tariff hike will not feel the effect right away: it will apply to goods exported after May 10, according to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. It will not affect products already in transit to the United States. Trump has prepared to put even more pressure on China as he pushes for an agreement. The president has threatened to slap 25% tariffs on $325 billion in Chinese goods that remain untaxed.

“Soybean / feed farmers are going to take a hit regardless”
We have been discussing that a bit on this thread. Congress was ready to bailout farmers if needed, but the President’s tweets indicate that tariff revenue could do it as well:
“....If we bought 15 Billion Dollars of Agriculture from our Farmers, far more than China buys now, we would have more than 85 Billion Dollars left over (from new tariff revenue)”
Do you know if we import pork from China?
I refuse to purchase any food products from China.
“they will likely just wait out Trump knowing that at least half our government is on Chinas side.”
Once the tariffs are in place, time and inertia are on our side. They will probably acquire a taste for that flush little revenue stream as well. The President could spread some of it around to politicians pet projects, like the communists do.
Right, I’m just saying that there is a bigger factor than the tariffs, in this instance. 200 million dead hogs in China alone (far more than the TOTAL herd in the US) is a significant blow to the global feed industry.
It’d be interesting to know if US farmers have already adjusted their planting choices, this spring.
Absolutely. I’ll find a relevant link for you...
Like!!!
Noted - thanks! The monthly and longer term graphs (for any exchange) are of more interest to me... :-)

Oh true. That did not sink in on me before.
That is a real plague alright. Wrath of God.
Note the part about the intercepted (they were trying to sneak it in) pork shipment.
Thank you.
You are welcome.
Gotta run, “All”. Busy day ahead, and then no web access for a day or two...
Thank you, Paul. Very kind of you.
Thanks for all your great input. Have a couple of good days away from all the craziness.
I love the smell of tariffs in the morning.
POTUS tweets this AM
Talks with China continue in a very congenial manner - there is absolutely no need to rush - as Tariffs are NOW being paid to the United States by China of 25% on 250 Billion Dollars worth of goods & products. These massive payments go directly to the Treasury of the U.S.......
....The process has begun to place additional Tariffs at 25% on the remaining 325 Billion Dollars. The U.S. only sells China approximately 100 Billion Dollars of goods & products, a very big imbalance. With the over 100 Billion Dollars in Tariffs that we take in, we will buy.....
....agricultural products from our Great Farmers, in larger amounts than China ever did, and ship it to poor & starving countries in the form of humanitarian assistance. In the meantime we will continue to negotiate with China in the hopes that they do not again try to redo deal!
Tariffs will bring in FAR MORE wealth to our country than even a phenomenal deal of the traditional kind. Also, much easier & quicker to do. Our Farmers will do better, faster, and starving nations can now be helped. Waivers on some products will be granted, or go to new source!
We have lost 500 Billion Dollars a year, for many years, on Crazy Trade with China. NO MORE!
The average 401(k) balance has SOARED since the bottom of the market - 466%. Wow!
Build your products in the United States and there are NO TARIFFS!
Chinese trade delegation just walked out of D.C. negotiations.
Don't let the door hit you in the ass!
The TRADE WAR with CHINA is one of Trump's BIGGEST and MOST IMPORTANT CHALLENGES for SAVING the USA!
That means I consider it on par with these OTHER BIGGIES:
1) Border
2) Economy (taxes, regulations)
3) Military
4) Cultural Marxism (PC, media, Christian values etc.)
Of course WALL STREET is WHINING about China.
Ultimately the FREE MARKET will rule in Wall Street, unless the globalist FED joins forces with globalist influences on Wall Street (financial markets) to tank the stock market and the economy.
ATTENTION AMERICANS:
China is a Communist country.
They DO NOT believe in private property.
They believe that the money in your pocket belongs to them.
They will NEVER STOP STEALING our companies, our Intellectual Property and, eventually, our freedom.
The China Trade War is MUST WIN.
DO NOT LET THE FAKE NEWS DISSUADE ANYONE FROM SUPPORTING POTUS 100% on this!
From the President’s tweet, which you posted:
“...With the over 100 Billion Dollars in Tariffs that we take in...”
It appears that he is already counting the revenue from the NEXT round of tariffs (the big one) to get to that number. Maybe he is just trolling the Chinese negotiators, or maybe he is signalling that he does intend to levy that next round as well.
I anticipate that he will, and the communist economy is in for a big let down this year.
I anticipate that he will eventually levy the full 25% across the board on all communist Chinese imports, for National Security reasons, as well as economic reasons. It is an elegant solution to our main strategic threat (as formally identified in our National Security Strategy).
Instead of paying a huge Military price later, he will take away their resources now, and make money doing it.

Will they be fixing the postage problem? Currently, Chinese goods are able to access our postal system for pennies while our shipping overseas is astronomically expensive. This needs to stop.
