Mayor Bill de Blasio, who is mulling a run for president, is planning a rally outside Trump Tower Monday to promote his Green New Deal, The Post has learned.
“It’s a pretty good idea as Trump Tower is one of the biggest polluters per square foot in New York City,” said environmental activist Pete Sikora, who’s planning on attending the noon event.
The City Council passed a bill last month to slap strict greenhouse gas emissions caps on private buildings exceeding 25,000 square feet by forcing them to retrofit pipes, heating systems, lights and other utilities by 2024 or face big fines.
During an Earth Day press conference the mayor said Trump Tower would be subject to the penalties if the building doesn’t meet the new requirements
