No Senate Intelligence Committee Republicans Publicly Stand Up for Richard Burr
Breitbart ^ | 8 May 2019 | MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 05/09/2019 8:13:42 AM PDT by conservative98

These Senate offices include Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX), who is up for re-election in Texas in 2020; Tom Cotton (R-AR), Susan Collins (R-ME), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Jim Risch (R-ID).

Not one of those senators would publicly stand by Burr on Wednesday evening, when asked where they stand both on the subpoena and on whether Burr should remain chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Not only has the entire Senate Intelligence Committee GOP membership basically abandoned defending Burr publicly, it appears no Republicans anywhere have his back on this.

What’s more, while Burr himself and his committee have not replied to requests for comment from Breitbart News about his decision to go rogue on McConnell’s claim the investigation is “case closed” by issuing the subpoena to the president’s son, sources familiar with the matter tell Breitbart News that the senator and his staff have been completely shell-shocked by the reaction to the news of their move to issue the subpoena.

“By doing this, Senator Burr just started a civil war in the Republican Party with someone who has undoubtedly become one of the biggest superstars in the eyes of the base,” a former high-ranking Trump White House official told Breitbart News.

You have an abundance of optimism.

I hate to break it to you but the Republican Party works for K Street, not you. They pretend to be conservative, especially just before elections, but the reality is that they really love big government just as much as the Democrats do. They are not proponents of smaller government, reduced spending, and more personal liberty.

How would you propose saving a party that is beholden to the big donors? They control the party. And that’s exactly why they hate Trump: they cannot control him.

There is an army of people out there who love Trump and would happily support a new party that stands up for conservatives. Not a re-branded GOP; a new party with principles, convictions and the political courage to fight for them.

A fact they repeatedly prove every election cycle. Unfortunately the base keeps voting for what they say instead of what they do (or rather don’t do).

Smarmy Burr is owned just like Scarborough is. Why Joe goes out like a trained seal and spouts what he is ordered to do so; else the Dems will drop how that intern died in his office. Forget Warner, Burr’s bosses he’s on puppet strings as well. WHAT, they got, on idiot Burr?

I wish Trump would start a new party that represents conservative interests and principles.

What’s more alarming is that no R senators are standing up AGAINST his decision.

Hey Mitch, pick up your phone and call this guy

Maybe not for this particular issue.

I saw his name and induldged in a knee-jerk reaction.

Prehaps not (on this issue, you are right) but there are p-l-e-n-t-y of others that justify another go during the next primary season.

I know, he’s my senator too. If we find a replacement for him, we just need someone that can win the general, as he is better than any democrat.

Thank you for asking Senator. I’m reminded of the bible verse Yea though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil. I think that there has been vast amounts of testimony about the meeting in Trump Tower. it is seemingly appropriate to describe the room and get a feeling for the ambiance. The floor was carpeted with I believe Milliken carpet squares These carpet squares are of very good quality and are in use in buildings through out the Trump building inventory. You might be interested to learn that the carpet in the room in question is Mojave beige with tan highlights. The carpet meets the high standard of the ASTM E 648 Class 1 specification.

The drop ceiling in the meeting room is heavy duty commercial drop type with hand fitted 2’x3’ panels of the Damask pattern. The quality is very high, meeting the ASTM E1264 - 14 Standard Classification for Acoustical Tile.

I am a NC voter, and I have noted that Burr has not been backing the President’s (and Republican) program to MAGA. I have decided that I will not vote for him again. Hopefully, there will be a strong candidate opposing him in the next Primary.

Actually, I don’t have an abundance of optimism. I know that the sell-out-America wing of the GOP is very much out there. John McCain has reincarnated as Mitt Romney, after all.

Trump ran as a Republican though, not a third party. If he had, he would be Mr. Trump, private citizen. He is making changes the sell-outs don’t like. He is popular, they’re not. He’s had half a term. I’m still cutting him some slack.

Let’s be honest, too. If you think Social Security and Medicare and big FedGov “safety nets” can work, than you’re for Big Government, too. A lot of the sell-outs are just trying to make that work, for you.

**************

They could save us a lot of money and extend the viability of such program by doing something to stop the widespread cheating and fraud. The amount of fraud is absolutely enormous; four years ago it was estimated to be $60 billion. Imagine what it is now. But they don’t really want to do that. They just want to keep spending more as its easier than correcting systemic problems.

But let’s get back to the party issue. Trump is not respected or loved by the GOP. He won the presidency in spite of them. Speaking of frauds, Trump’s supporters know exactly what most of the GOP really is — a deceptive and disingenuous gang of sell outs.

It is an ineffective and soulless party in need of real competition.

“It is an ineffective and soulless party in need of real competition.”

It has some real slime-bags in it, and I think I’ve watched them be created.

There was a time when getting Federal Entitlements under control was seriously discussed. Those that discussed, are no more. Those alive today no longer discuss. They just feed the Beast that is the American Electorate. If they need Illegal Immigration, Federal Stimulus Spending, a Neo-Con war or two or just to cooperate with the Dems to do the job, they’ll do it. There are, of course, crooks on both sides, but with all that money floating around, whose going to notice?

To fix the Republicans or Democrats, or even to have your imaginary Party succeed, we have to fix the American Electorate.

Anyway, I think I get you. You want Liberty and a Limited Government that runs a con-game to your benefit.

Good luck with that.

Lots of things were imaginary before someone turned them into a reality. Everything starts out as as an idea. The thought of Trump winning the presidency was considered "imaginary" by many too.

Anyway, I think I get you. You want Liberty and a Limited Government that runs a con-game to your benefit.

No, you think wrong. You don't "get me" at all. I don't depend on government largesse. Maybe you do, but I don't have to.

“You don’t “get me” at all. I don’t depend on government largesse.”

I am trying to explain to you the origins of those aspects of the GOP which were objectionable to you (and me). No party will succeed as you hope without addressing these issues.

You said I had “abundant optimism”, but I think that you must, to think that a simple name-change can get you what you want from a political party without understanding what is driving it.

You want Limited Government? Don’t give it money to spend.
