These Senate offices include Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX), who is up for re-election in Texas in 2020; Tom Cotton (R-AR), Susan Collins (R-ME), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Jim Risch (R-ID).
Not one of those senators would publicly stand by Burr on Wednesday evening, when asked where they stand both on the subpoena and on whether Burr should remain chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Not only has the entire Senate Intelligence Committee GOP membership basically abandoned defending Burr publicly, it appears no Republicans anywhere have his back on this.
Whats more, while Burr himself and his committee have not replied to requests for comment from Breitbart News about his decision to go rogue on McConnells claim the investigation is case closed by issuing the subpoena to the presidents son, sources familiar with the matter tell Breitbart News that the senator and his staff have been completely shell-shocked by the reaction to the news of their move to issue the subpoena.

By doing this, Senator Burr just started a civil war in the Republican Party with someone who has undoubtedly become one of the biggest superstars in the eyes of the base, a former high-ranking Trump White House official told Breitbart News.

I’ve always maintained the Elephant Party is more riven than the Donkey Party.
They have been dying a slow, wasting death... Trump will hand them the coup de grâce
They already dug their own grave so they only need a nudge
John cornyn needs to go.
You Need to read again.
Maybe not for this particular issue.
Burrito is part of the Deep State. I am told he has big drug money from the Obamacare era behind him.
Burr did this to solidify the Democrat vote for him in 2020. We now need a real conservative to primary him for this.
This move is so unusual and extraordinary it begs the question whether Burr played a part in the coup attempt.

Most astute comment in the thread.
I doubt if the FBI/CIA/etc. spying stopped with Trump and a relative handful of others. I would imagine that they have a sword hanging over the head of the majority of senators and representatives, heads of agencies and departments. Just a nifty way to control things.
NC resident here.
Burr is up in 2022, not 2020. During his last campaign, he said that he will not run for re-election then.
Remove him as chairman, dammit.
There’s just a lot of superficial and disingenuous squabbling and grumbling going on over Burr’s subpoena. A few days from now it will all be forgotten. Burr has done Warner’s bidding for a long time and nothing ever changes.
Republicans talk a lot (especially before elections) but they rarely produce results for the conservatives that support them. The GOP held the congress for two critical years (2017-2018) but largely refused to support Trump and squandered their opportunities to fix the immigration problem, among other failures. Once again proving they deceive their voters.
Republicans have a big credibility problem.
I want to see Mitch remove Burr from his committee chair
Seems a good idea, although if during his presidency the Rino's would quickly react by providing the count for impeachment conviction in the Senate.
In fact, it is easy to imagine that Trump ends each business day by wondering if enough Rino's have abandoned him.
Time not only primary them, but create a new party, the Trump party. Republican time has come and gone. Worthless!
As an Idahoan I sent a email to Sen. Risch regarding this subpoena. The article in Breitbart had some misleading dialog “ entire Senate Intelligence Committee GOP membership basically abandoned defending Burr publicly” Seems to me he should have been publicly vilified by the Republican members of the committee.
Remove him as chairman, dammit.

Agree, an appropriate and necessary action. Burr has effectively gone rogue and needs to be punished for hurting the party and the president. But there’s little chance of that happening.
Republican weakness on display — yet again.
“I wish Trump would start a new party that represents conservative interests and principles. The GOP certainly doesnt and never will.”
Because changing your name alway helps.
There is no reason the Republican Party cannot be saved, and I would think Conservatives would see the benefit of doing that. A Republican Party that has returned to its roots would include a lot of former Democrats, whose party has abandoned them, in its ranks.
A third party is the Third Rail.
create a new party, the Trump party

Agree. The GOP has failed us again and again. There is no reason to hope this will ever change. The party’s DNA is what it is.
Burr is a DIRT DEMOCRAT!
