Go back and read what the founders espoused in terms of a Divine role in government affairs. Their writings are all about the dignity of man in the eyes of God. You won't find any references to anything they wrote where they claimed God wanted the U.S. to support some country over another one halfway around the world.

There is nothing more dangerous than a political figure who promotes some kind of value-neutral policy (or even worse -- a BAD policy) by claiming that "God wants us to do this."

Pompeo did not initiate the conversation. He just said it was possible. What was he to say? CNN is doing their fine work of twisting things again.

That's why the question was ludicrous. When you ask a question about God's intentions, a lot of things are "possible."

If the reporter asked Pompeo if God wanted Iran and Israel to destroy each other, an honest answer to that question would also have to be: "It's possible." Right?
