At the time they said women needed to have equal access to sport programs at our schools. Girls programs should be funded to an equal amount of the boys funding.

Why must we be required, or even implied, to ‘like’ them? What’s wrong with indifference?
Requiring transgenders to be able to compete with biological females as if they were truly their biologically functional equals is insanity. When an XY and an XX chromosome individual can both race to the finish line to conceive, gestate, and naturally deliver a human infant, then we might have some rational basis to discuss the mechanics of having them compete in sports such as running, jumping, and powerlifting as equally matched athletes. Until then, we should recognize that the two human sexes are built, by God, nature, or evolution, functionally different for different natural roles, and due to those functional differences in their bodies, should not, and can not, be expected to have competitive results when compared athletically against each other, regardless of what an individual competitor may identify as by choice.
Reality is what matters, not choice. All else is fantasy.

Let’s be even more accurate about it:
All men and women are on a bell shaped curve on their abilities, regardless of what those abilities are, strength, speed, agility, fine motor skills, resistance to pain, endurance, balance, several types of intelligence, response time, accuracy, etc.
In some of those areas, there are sex linked advantages which both sexes excel over the other. There is no doubt that in the human species, biological males particularly excel over the female in speed, strength, and some areas of agility. There is also no doubt that some individual females or even sub-groups of females excel over individual males or similar sub-groups of males. However, it is also a fact that no individual females or sub-group of females, exceeds the individual males or sub-groups of males at the high-end of the bell curve, as the ability of the males exceed those of the females in those areas where the males excel over the females. Similarly, in those areas where the females excel over those of the males, such as fine motor skills, endurance, resistance to pain, balance, and others, the same holds true.
Many excellent females will be able to beat mediocre males, but moderately good males can beat many excellent females, but even the best women cannot beat many even moderately good males in the fields where the bell curves don’t overlap enough. They just don’t have the physical ability to do so.
To deny these facts is irrational. The same is absolutely true where the males are at a disadvantage in the lack of bell curve overlap where females excel. These are just the facts of biology. Progressives don’t recognize facts. They think facts are malleable to ideology.
Once upon a time there weren’t professional leagues, other than the LPGA and WTA, for women athletes. Even those two leagues were relatively low paying compared to their mens counterparts.
The women played a variety of sports more for love of the game and competition than fame or fortune because there was little fame and less fortune to be had.
I enjoyed watching Margaret Court, Evonne Goolagong and even Martina Navratilova play tennis.
