House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler has scheduled a vote Wednesday to hold Attorney General William P. Barr in contempt of Congress after he refused to provide an unredacted version of special counsel Robert Muellers report to Congress.
Mr. Nadler and Mr. Barr have been sparring over what the Justice Department will provide to Congress beyond the redacted report that was publicly released last month.
Mr. Barr missed a May 1 deadline for turning over the full report and all supporting evidence, and Mr. Nadler softened his demand to a less-redacted report and some of the supporting evidence Mr. Mueller amassed. That new deadline was Monday morning.
Should the committee approve the contempt citation it would then go to the full House floor for a vote.
The attorney generals failure to comply with our subpoena, after extensive accommodation efforts, leaves us no choice but to initiate contempt proceedings in order to enforce the subpoena and access the full, unredacted report, Mr. Nadler said in a statement, adding he would postpone the hearing if the Department reverse course.
Rep. Doug Collins of Georgia, the top Republican on the committee, blasted Mr. Nadler, saying the subpoena requires the attorney general to release confidential grand jury information, which would violate federal law.
They know the Justice Department is working to negotiate even as they pursue contempt charges making their move today illogical and disingenuous, he said.
The markup, scheduled for 10 a.m., is the escalation of an ongoing battle between the Justice Department and the Judiciary Committee as tensions rise over Mr. Barrs handling of the Mueller probe.
Mr. Barr last week skipped a scheduled appearance before the committee after Democrats demanded an extra session for staff attorneys to question the attorney general. The Justice Department called the move unprecedented and Inappropriate.

Why holder up the Vote?-)
Wouldn’t it be funny if Barr had him arrested for try to force a Public Employee to break the law?-)
What "quarter ton of fun" Jerry Nadler is asking and including in his subpoena is a demand that the attorney general commit a crime by revealing privileged information from a grand jury to the congressional committee. Even under the loosy-goosy legislative rules, this would seem to be on it's face an invalid subpoena.
Yes Jerry, Dunkin' Donuts will still be open if you hurry. On second thought, better send a staffer.
Barr should deliver a televised statement that CLEARLY delineates the law which states that the grand jury testimony portions of the Mueller report SHALL NOT be publicly released!

Lie
It would be awesome to see AG Barr indict and prosecute Nadler for conspiring to violate Federal law!!!
Its obvious they are zombie lines. . . I.e. They are the Walking Dead lines. Nadler learned that from Obambi. Draw a line in the sand and it keeps moving even though its dead.
Walking Dead lines eat brains. . . And since Progressive Leftists have no brains, there is no stopping them . . . Until they reach somewhere there are brains to stop them.
And a lot of gerrymandering to creat his guaranteed win district.
Go Nadless. It’s you’re birthday.
That’s a good depiction of Nadless, an ankle biter. LOL!
Wonder how much Jerry’s watch cost.
Just curious.
The House Judiciary Committee Rules do not require any members of the minority party members to be present for any votes.
Some other committees do have that rule in place.
