CVS - I go there often for their great prices on greeting cards, hair products and holiday decorations.

Our local CVS is a train wreck.(It’s not on the “Closed” list.) The lines to pick up prescriptions are RIDICULOUS. Wait times can be half an hour. They’re too busy selling Hershey bars, Pepsi, and hair coloring to be bothered with medicine.

I fired CVS and went to our local “Mom & Pop” drugstore. Prices are slightly higher, but my blood pressure is much lower.

A healthy trade-off.

Meh. They’re a PHARMACY. They’re moving more and more into the health care market, even including PAs and nurses on site. Selling cigarettes when the guy you’re waiting to see is telling you “Stop smoking!” seems congruent with their approach. Sure, they still sell candy, ice cream and alcohol. Nobody’s perfect.

The fact is that these stores are expensive to operate. The staff at the back counter probably runs $400-500k per shift.

CVS is creating pharmacy deserts in these areas. Where is the liberal outcry?

Recently went to CVS Minute Clinic, for the first time, for a shingles shot. I had an appointment. Once I signed the board showed my wait to be an hour and a half and they had just been open for an hour. I left and made another appointment. I was shocked at how few customers were in the store and then I got a look at their prices for every items. Grossly overpriced.

Most retail pharmacy departments lose money. They're a loss-leader to get people into the store to buy other things. I'd surrender my license before I would ever work in one of those dumps.

Thanks for mentioning that.

Mine hasn’t gone out of it’s way to be helpful, but they have been competent and have provided good service.

I've always seen CVS as being largely a Northeast chain. IIRC their headquarters is in Rhode Island.

They’re building a new one in my town, the same shopping center as an existing drug store.
