It is one of the great dilemmas of climate change: We take such comfort from air conditioning that worldwide energy consumption for that purpose has already tripled since 1990. It is on track to grow even faster through mid-century - and assuming fossil-fuel–fired power plants provide the electricity, that could cause enough carbon dioxide emissions to warm the planet by another deadly half-degree Celsius.
A paper published Tuesday in the Nature Communications proposes a partial remedy: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (or HVAC) systems move a lot of air. They can replace the entire air volume in an office building five or 10 times an hour. Machines that capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere - a developing fix for climate change - also depend on moving large volumes of air. So why not save energy by tacking the carbon capture machine onto the air conditioner?
This futuristic proposal, from a team led by chemical engineer Roland Dittwanker at Germany’s Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, goes even further. The researchers imagine a system of modular components, powered by renewable energy, that would not just extract carbon dioxide and water from the air. It would also convert them into hydrogen, and then use a multistep chemical process to transform that hydrogen into liquid hydrocarbon fuels.
The result: “Personalized, localized and distributed, synthetic oil wells” in buildings or neighborhoods, the authors write. “The envisioned model of ‘crowd oil’ from solar refineries, akin to ‘crowd electricity’ from solar panels,” would enable people “to take control and collectively manage global warming and climate change, rather than depending on the fossil power industrial behemoths.”

Removing CO2 from a conditioned space (for people) is a desirable ‘air quality’ benefit anyway, regardless of the ‘climate change’ CO2 hoax. I believe submarine scrubbers have to do this. However, it’s impracticable to add this capacity to HVAC equipment that would increase their installation and operation costs drastically yet would make only the most infinitesimal changes to the overall atmosphere, even if every machine out there had this capacity.

I figure the same sort of thing can occur to counter tropical storms. Say in Florida there is a storm developing and is gonna head towards the west coast of FL. Everybody that has a portable fan needs to go to the beach and point all those fans to the west. Storm stopped. Sheesh. How hard is that?

Clever, but stupid. Sucking CO2 out of the air requires energy. Less energy with this idea, but energy nevertheless. That energy is generated with something that contributes to the level of CO2.
If you suck CO2 out of the air, plant life will grow less lavishly to compensate for the reduced CO2, and that will reduce the amount of oxygen in the air which will impact animal life which will produce less CO2. Get where this is going? Nature is self-correcting.
CO2 is produced by the power plant, not the air conditioning unit. So every power plant would have to have some sort of “carbon-capture” equipment that is powered by renewable energy. Not sure how that would work, but would probably raise the price of electricity astronomically.

It has been written in Wattsupwiththat that there is no global warming if the only temperature readings that are used are not in the metro-urban heat sinks.
Let me see. Our interior spaces heat up in part because they are closed environments that earth’s natural air currents have less effect on. So we cool them by cooling the interior air, taking the heat extracted from it and throwing it outside.
Then we measure the outside air temperature and declare it is warming greater than it ought to be. Well duh!!!
Yes, let’s bring on the ice age.
