Group’s longtime leader says Oliver North, president of the NRA, wants him out
Longtime National Rifle Association leader Wayne LaPierre has told the group’s board he is being extorted and pressured to resign by the organization’s president, Oliver North, over allegations of financial improprieties, in an extraordinary battle roiling one of the nation’s most powerful nonprofit political groups.
In a letter sent to NRA board members late Thursday afternoon, LaPierre, the group’s CEO and executive vice president, said he refused the demand. Instead he called on board members to “see this for what it is: a threat meant to intimidate and divide us.”
North sent his own letter to the board late Thursday evening, in which he said his actions were for the good of the NRA and that he was forming a crisis committee to examine financial matters inside the organization, according to people familiar with its contents.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. LaPierre has been there too long. North has a good moral compass and the optics of the situation make me inclined to support him. But what has driven me away from the NRA is a lack of attention, in my opinion, to the State of California’s assault on gun owners and the perception that they are a bucks up organization that can afford clothing perks and glossy high dollar communications materials. Save this money for the lawyers.

LaPierre is finished. Airing such a dispute in public says that he lacks board votes and is desperately trying to dirty up North enough to prevail or at least wound him.
Me too. From the Iran-Contra testimony onward Col. North has always shown courage and integrity.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Read the Knox letter in Ammoland. Six figure consulting contracts to nRA executives who quit, huge pensions and fringe benefits on top of LaPierre million dollar salaries. No wonder they claim to be going broke. Capital cronyism at its worst.
Somebody needs jail time. North is being too kind. This stuff is criminal.

The fact that he didn't stick with "shall not be infringed" tells you everything you need to know.
Why did they hire North for a million dollars a year? Serves them right.
I trust North even less.
I dropped my NRA membership several years ago when they endorsed all the Dem incumbents in the NEW MEXICO elections.
I told the NRA : Why do you think these Dems will support the 2nd when they don’t even believe in the Constitution to BEGIN with???

Exactly and why I quit,too. I have asked often how can we support any one of any group who is not Absolutely 100% for the Constitution and Bill of Rights? How can anybody do that and replace it with what? “What” being what the socialists believe but will not provide facts, as they see facts, to support their views. La Pierre has been a loser for while. I wonder who got that money?
His salary went from $250k to $1.2 million AND he’s given a lot of $500k per year “consulting” gigs to former employees while the retirement accounts are underfunded by $30 million. And more.
