Wow. At first the FBI and police guys just kind of chuckled at the whole thing and he showed them his 100k telescope collection.

A year later he’s banging out 2 years.

I could NEVER imagine being angry enough on any website to attack it with porn or anything else.

If I ever get mad enough on FR, I MIGHT post a picture of me in a speedo. :)

And there won’t be enough psychiatrists alive to help with all the trauma cases :)

If you can’t do the time, then don’t do the crime.

He is guilty he deserves to rot.

Odd name for a telescope forum.

They can make this dumb bass serve two years.

That's two years more than any of those who attempted the anti-Trump coup will ever see.

One of the reasons for punishment is to make an example to discourage others. This story indicates that the sentence may have some benefit in that regard.

He should have taken a lesson from Hillary and merely emailed TS//SCI and TS//SAP/SAR classified info to people not cleared to have it. Then, unlike in the case of asking someone to hack it, “no reasonable prosecutor would have brought a case”. Right, Comey?

"42 year-old IT Specialist"

This butt-head should have known better. He deserves to serve each and every day of this sentence. The IT community (especially the burgeoning security arm of the industry) pride ourselves on ethics.

Persons like Goodyear (and the Awan brothers) that make a mockery of it are a cancer on our cause. They should rot in hell.

Meanwhile little is done to catch and prosecute the many fraudsters that do things like con scared and ignorant elderly folks into turning over their credit card info to someone claiming to be the IRS or Treasury or DOJ telling them they are about to be arrested for unpaid taxes. This is done by phone and by Email, making it a “cyber” crime as well as a financial crime. That sort of crime is estimated to cost about American citizens about $10 billion a year. But someone temporarily disabling a chat forum gets three years in prison. There’s no justice at the DOJ.

I don’t know about this guy, but those coders who develop those advertisements that can penetrate pop up blockers ought to get at least 5 years.

FBI goes after this crook, gets him a prison sentence but Hillary Clinton is free after committing treason using her computers as a drop box for secret gov’t files.

Hmm. He sounds like a jerk. But it makes me wonder. He didn't actually do anything other than post on a hacker site what amounted to, “Hey this website banned me, why don't you DoS it?) Makes me wonder if you could go to jail for bank robbery if you just happened to make some dumb post somewhere to the effect of, “Stupid bank hit me with an overdraft charge, why don't one of you crooks rob it?” Then someone actually does rob the bank....

Cyber Crimes could be stopped if the government offerred a $1 million dollar reward for anyone who turns in a hacker.

Offer it globally, with other countries signing on to agree to extradite offenders.

SOMEONE would turn-in the hackers.

I was just pissed,” he told his visitors — one from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and another from the Los Angeles Police Department. “I just went up in, just the heat of the moment.”

No matter how friendly they seem, no matter what subject they might want to chat about, NEVER talk to FBI or police. Most ESPECIALLY, never hand them a confession.
