I confess that it took me awhile to convert to the Church of Pete. But now, I’m listening to the sermons. And I’m becoming a believer.
This is not to say that the 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Ind. — who recently entered the race for the Democratic presidential nomination — is my choice. It’s too early to pick a horse in this race. All are playing to their strengths. But the weaknesses have yet to be revealed; the likable candidate might not be very smart, and the smart one might prove to be not very likable.
All I know is that I’m in the market for a Democrat who can save the country by defeating Donald Trump.

The super at my old building was a Maltese named Buttigieg. It’s pronounced BUTT-i-gig. It’s not hard to say. Any other pronunciation is just trying to avoid saying “butt.”

Buttigieg has a low ceiling, sort of like Jesse Jackson did in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
He might be competitive against Harris in CA, which is interesting, but I can’t see him doing much in Georgia or South Carolina, nor among the lunchpail union Dems in the midwest (Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois).
What's my point? Pete what's his name is not a hypocrite about his orientation. So to me, it's a non-issue. Let's applaud him for not being a hypocrite.
