Former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore leads the field of potential Republicans vying for the chance to challenge Sen. Doug Jones (D), a year and a half after Moore lost what was supposed to be an easy election in a deep-red state.
A new poll shows Moore leading a still-evolving field of Alabama Republicans competing for the nomination. He is the top choice of 27 percent of Alabama Republican voters, according to the Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy Inc. survey.
The states three Republican members of Congress finish well behind Moore: Rep. Mo Brooks would take 18 percent, Rep. Bradley Byrne clocks in at 13 percent and Rep. Gary Palmer would take 11 percent.

The stupid Alabama Bible Thumpers are going to screw this up again. They should not interested in a preacher, but rather a solid, non-loony, conservative to replace Doug Jones. But somehow this moron fills the bill for too many in Alabama.
I don’t see how Brooks is even an issue, in the sense that it should be a No Brainer to get behind him and nominate him. From what I’ve read about him, he’s about as Conservative as they get. And his solution for getting rid of obamacare is about as simple as it gets.
A 2-page document to get rid of that monstrosity.

Even Alabamians who dislike Moore didn’t want or expect Doug Jones to win. People figured they could safely stay home because they figured Moore was a lock. It was simply inconceivable that a Democrat could win a senate seat in Alabama.
Well, that illusion has now been shattered. Alabama got a HUGE wakeup call. As a result, I seriously doubt anyone will make the mistake of staying home this time around, no matter how flakey they think Moore is. I think the state’s been inoculated against a repeat of 2016.
At this point my expection is that the Republican nominee will win the seat no matter who he happens to be, and probably by a comfortable margin.
That said, Mo Brooks would be the best choice. Rock solid conservative, smart (economics degree from Duke), pithy and sharp in front of a camera, and no flakiness. He’s currently a congressman and would make a great senator IMO.
That poll is fatal to Moore. Alabama has runoff requirements. The top two candidates would go to a runoff in that scenario. Moore is only pulling in 27%. If it were him and Mo Brooks in a runoff, the rest of the vote would consolidate behind Brooks. Hed like win a head to head with more than 60% of the vote.

EXACTLY Theres no way in hell Moore wins a runoff. President Trump should either stay out of the primary entirely OR endorse Mo Brooks. The latter would be the wisest approach. We all know that the establishment Republicans will back some compliant RINO in the primary.
“Doesn’t Alabama have a younger conservative to elect as their senator?”
The more important question is does Alabama have any voters with a lick of sense?
Considering that you have all the 'smart' voters locked in out there in California, we just can't compete./s
I'm going to have to mark Roy Moore down as a Democrat at this point.
He is from Northern Alabama. Downstate, his name doesn't carry as much weight.
Luther Strange and his supporters did their best to slam Mo in the last senate race. Of course, Mo was not in Trump's corner in 2016, so that is also held against him.
Am I wrong for starting to believe that Roy Moore is a dimocrat plant?
Roy Moore is a Democrat.
The guy is creepy and a grandstander.
Would it not be better to talk about his position on the issues? He has a pretty good history of being right on many issues and has paid a personal/political cost for standing up for what is right. That he is still in the battle speaks highly of his character and willingness to fight.
Had heard that current Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz was considering moving across the Panhandle border to run for Senate in Alabama.
He’s only 36 and a staunch MAGA advocate.
An article from the GOP establishments main source: “The Hill” ...i bet all of these fake freeper anti-Moore posters are all GOP Establishment writers from The Hill.
Just look how quickly they all reply to there The Hill articles. Its like they know when its about to be posted on Free Republic and immediately BAMM, 15 GOP Establishment posts in its first minute.
He’s worse, he sides with illegal aliens and their employers every time.
"He lost nobly to the Democrat, AGAIN."
This isn't a publik skool, where everyone gets a participation trophy. ;-)
They are the true believers.
Graham is electable. Moore is not.
Please clap!
