Its just a fact of life that handguns are now permanent legal fixtures in the American landscape. We have to live with that.
But the freedom to own a firearm doesnt mean it has to be free of charge. It doesnt mean that owners cant be a tiny bit inconvenienced. And someones right to own a gun certainly does not trump the safety rights of the rest of us.
This is what the pro-gun people dont seem to understand.
Gun rights advocates in Illinois are in an uproar over legislation that is being debated in the General Assembly. The bill simply would make it harder for people who arent supposed to have guns to legally obtain them.
The amendment to House Bill 96, sponsored by Rep. Kathleen Willis, is one of several bills introduced in the aftermath of a multiple shooting at a manufacturing warehouse in Aurora in February.
Of course, we dont know if stricter state laws could have stopped 45-year-old Gary Martin from shooting five co-workers to death, in addition to injuring five police officers, after learning he was to be terminated. But many Illinois residents are demanding that our lawmakers at least give it a try.

Well yes, yes it does.
It would be interesting to know what percentage of people cannot produce a valid photo ID. I think census takers should ask for a photo ID. I would bet the number without would be extremely low. .0001% And it is hardly a burden to get valid ID. Photo ID deters voter fraud.
This writer alone is a good reason to move out of Il.
Yet... abortion is apparently tangentially part of the penumbra of constitutional rights... and a mandatory government expenditure.
I’m not advocating any charge. Would the same media pundits pushing for this be okay with background checks and annual licensing to post on the internet or publish a text?
The power to tax is the power to destroy.
McCulloch v. Maryland
.
Trick question!
There is no gun crime in Chicago due to the very strict gun laws passed to protect the police officers of Chicago.
How much gun crime in Chicago is committed by black people?
Double Trick Question!
There are no black people in Chicago 'cause the MAGA hat- wearing White Nationalists drove them out!
KEK!
Keep on fightin’, crackah.
Any non market “charge” is an Infringement and therefore unConstitutional as is every law and regulation on anybody’s books. The 13th Amendment might allow the only possible exception in its treatment of “involuntary servitude” which refers to legally incarcerated persons. Otherwise it is every citizen’s or every human’s right to possess and carry a knife or an F-22.
This Ping List is for all things pertaining to infringes upon or victories for the 2nd Amendment.

“The Second amendment doesn’t say gun ownership has to be free of charge.”
Yes it does, Dahleen. Quote, “shall not be infringed.”

He should have been in NICS. Try fixing existing laws before proposing new ones, dipweed.
Which of our rights, besides the 2nd Amendment, do we have to ask permission from the government before we can exercise it?
No, they are not stupid. They are insidious.
The editorial approval is always turned down the first time, however the fee must be paid for each attempt to gain approval. You must also gain approval and submit an application for each additional writing implement you wish to use. Since electronic means allows both faster writing, and faster dispersal of produced communications, you must submit for each implement you would have used, at a ten-times fee, which will also automatically be declined the first time; and you must submit to a lengthy background check to determine whether you have annoyed a bureaucrat in the past, committed grammatical errors, or failed in any case failed to use serial commas - related or unrelated to your submissions - including on Twitter. That your Editor, or your high school English teacher disallowed use of serial commas shall not be considered excuse for prior failures. Further, repeated submissions shall be deemed evidence of your unworthiness to receive a permit.
Any guesses as to how this person would respond to a proposal to tax abortions?
How about a tax on gay bars and bathhouses, to partially defray the AIDS epidemic?
Now we are getting somewhere. LOL
The problem is that a license or a back ground check is an infringement
because it will deter some honest people from going so far to own a fire arm
and it will make no difference at all to the criminal element as they will
still have theirs regardless of a law.

Same as always, laws that penalize the
Law abiding but does nothing else
I wasn’t advocating at any time licensing gun owners or press printers.
I was merely turning their argument to one of their own (pretended) sacred cows (journalism).
They actually are quite willing to lock the public out of the journalism game too. Fakebook wanted everyone’s “real” name. The press demands it. Legislators in Europe are demanding it.
They want a monopoly on the printed word and any ability to counter their claims.
I don’t see licensing free press as any protection of free press.
BUT 2A says “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”
Ok, I was a little dense which is getting customary for me ha,ha
I agree with what you said.
