Hours after a massive fire engulfed the historic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on Monday, a city official said the structure of the building had been saved.
The fire at the cathedral caused the roof to collapse, destroyed a spire and spread to one of the building's two rectangular towers. The sight brought many onlookers to tears...
...TThe spire destroyed by the fire contained artifacts considered sacred to Catholics, including a relic believed to be from Jesus Christ's crown of thorns. Relics from Saint Genevieve and Saint Denis are also feared lost.
Michel Picaud, from the Friends of Notre Dame organization responsible for the renovation efforts at the cathedral, told NBC News that, to his knowledge, the church's organ and stained glass windows were not damaged.
"The entire roof is fully destroyed," Picaud said. "The fire started up near the roof top while another fire started in the north bell tower."

1. What kind of religion celebrates when another religion’s church burns down? (The kind you shouldn’t allow in your country.)
2. Will the government admit it was arson if they find that it was arson?
Since renovations are in progress I assumed at first an accident had happened. But, with no workers in the building at the time, and the fire starting 15 minutes after the last visitors vacated, and given multiple church arsons in France in recent months, this fire looks very suspicious, especially during holy week.
I was listening to Catholic Radio and heard nothing about two points of ignition.
If true, it definitely changes the whole picture.
The entire (small c) catholic world will rebuild it. If people see this for what it is: On the eve of one of the most important dates in Heaven and Earth, a call to again glorify our GOD Almighty. Indeed, HE LIVES.
” It reminds me of what we did in Vietnam “

So is that what YOU did in Viet Nam ?
What a total jacka$$
I have a sauerkraut shredding blade from my father. My husband has a couple of planks from the Old Home Place. And on our mantel, we have a brick from the Berlin Wall.
Le Figaro is reporting the crown of thorns was saved.
"The fire started up near the roof top while another fire started in the north bell tower."
That sure would be a coincidence if it was a "construction accident" wouldn't it?
I’ve heard repeatedly that the Crown of Thorns and other relics were saved. Let’s hope that is true.
“The fire started up near the roof top while another fire started in the north bell tower.”
Two separate ignition points screams ARSON...
I have the same sentiments. Expect everything that is sacred and cherished in Europe to be destroyed within the next 20-30 years. I’ve been anticipated something like this for a while (although I assumed it would be the Louvre). I’m surprised Rome hasn’t been hit hard yet.
That doesn't sound like an accident.
They will never get to the Black Madonna in Czestochowa, or any other sacred place in Poland.
And the French expect us to save them for the third time?
It is not gone forever. It will be rebuilt!
I really think it’s too late. If not, it will be a decades long blood bath. Eastern Europe will probably survive the third world invasion, but not the West.
Probably drones with incendiary.
It looks increasingly like the fire at Notre Dame cathedral in Paris was an act of ISLAMIC JIHAD planned just for Holy Week!
Two spontaneous work accidents in different parts of the church. We dont like liars. In fact we hate them.
The truth is the opposite of whatever the boob tube states.
