I think I'm going to be ill.
I just sat through the live announcement of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize winners and I have never in my life seen such a vindication of everything we believe about the contemporary mainstream media.
First was an agonizing prelude of quotations and videos praising our liberal journalist "friends" for about ten or fifteen minutes (apparently non-liberal journalists don't count as journalists--the hypocrites!). At least it felt like fifteen minutes. Then came the prizes themselves.
They literally hit on every left wing trope in existence. They bestrode the entire left wing spectrum from one end to the other: bashing Trump, invoking gun control, etc., etc., etc. I even heard the claim that the press is "authorized by the Constitution?"(???)
These people obviously have no idea what kind of press existed at the time of the Founding: totally partisan and without any claims of "objectivivity" (as well as there being no information cartels at the time).
They sure played up the necessity of an "adversarial" press. I wonder where they were from 2009 to 2017?
I don't think I've ever been more disgusted in my life. These people may as well have worn little pyramids with "Illuminati" printed on them (or maybe "Lucis Trust"). But there is one bit of good news: if they weren't feeling the hits, they wouldn't be squealing! Let's hope they have nothing but stuff to squeal about for some time to come!

I don't know why they just didn't go ahead and award another one posthumously to Walter Duranty.
Liberals only give awards to people who further their twisted agenda, not to people who actually accomplish anything worthwhile.

I also recall when Mister Barack What's-his-name was awarded the Nobel peace prize for, um, well nobody really knows for what.

Walter Duranty (May 25, 1884 – October 3, 1957) was a Liverpool -born Anglo-American journalist who served as the Moscow Bureau Chief of The New York Times for fourteen years (1922–1936) following the Bolshevik victory in the Russian Civil War (1918–1921). In 1932 Duranty received a Pulitzer Prize for a series of reports about the Soviet Union, eleven of which were published in June 1931.

Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for nothing and by doing so made that accomplishment worthless.
If you were to ask 1000 people 48 hrs after the Pulitzers were awarded to name 2 of the winners, my guess is none of them would be able to do so.
These once worthy awards have been so politicized they have lost any value.
Left out the part about those reports praising the benefits of communism (while Stalin was busy killing as many of his population as he could).

Maybe they want to force people to watch it to learn the winners.
