Over the last week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Legislature picked the pockets of city and state taxpayers with a spending plan that takes and takes, then takes some more.

They did it quietly, like assassins, with only peeps of protest. Disagreements over which taxes to raise were settled by raising them all. Such is life in a one-party town.

As a result, New York is taking a giant leap toward the promised land of democratic socialism. The cost of living here already is soaring and Albany responded by injecting a huge dose of high-octane fuel. Expect a crash landing.

The pain comes in the form of new, renewed or hiked levies on Manhattan-bound motorists, real estate, income, pharmaceuticals, paper bags and rental cars. And that’s just for starters.

The pols also put in motion a plan to spend $100 million for public financing of their campaigns, then celebrated by giving themselves huge pay hikes.

Yes, a “bland” state is probably much more comfortable financially - and much less attractive to the locusts. States with harsh winters have a natural selection thing going as well (outside of the cities)...

The assumption that Dems would automatically be the winners if the electoral college is eliminated is nonsense; look at how little effort Republicans spend on lib states, and imagine if they actively campaigned there. Too many simpletons on TV pretending we’d have the same popular vote results without an electoral college; both campaigns would use very different strategies, and the outcome could surprise Dems.

Just to clarify.... Cuomo won only 14 of NY’s 62 counties-
all NYC and surrounding area.
I am wanting desperately to get out of here; the plan has been to Virginia and grandkids.
It’s not as bad there but it ain’t good. NY is killing us.

4. Spend more time at the range;
5. Keep your vehicles full of gas;
